Sound familiar?

Not sure where to start with the numbers?

Most new business owners have a clear idea of what they are building but a much less clear idea of how to structure it, what to register for, or what records they will need to produce in twelve months. The decisions made in the first few weeks tend to follow a business for years. Getting them wrong is correctable, but it costs time and usually money.

  • ✕ Unsure whether to trade as a sole trader or limited company
  • ✕ No bookkeeping system in place and transactions already piling up
  • ✕ Tax registration deadlines approaching with no one keeping track

What a proper start looks like

A short conversation is usually enough to identify the right structure and what needs to happen next. From there, the compliance side is managed on your behalf so you can get on with the business.

  • ✓ Structure advice so you begin as the right entity for your situation
  • ✓ Cloud bookkeeping configured before the first invoice goes out
  • ✓ VAT and PAYE registrations tracked and filed before they become urgent
  • ✓ Fixed-fee pricing with no surprise bills as your business grows

What you get

Everything a new business needs covered

Services are scoped to your stage and size, so you are not paying for things that do not apply yet — and the scope grows as you do.

01

Company Setup and Compliance

Company formation, registered office, confirmation statements, and corporation tax registration are handled from the outset. Your statutory obligations are met as they arise, with no need to track deadlines yourself. Year-end accounts and CT600 filings are included in the annual package.

From day one
02

Bookkeeping and Cloud Accounting

Xero or QuickBooks Online is set up and configured for your business before you start trading. Monthly bookkeeping keeps records current so there is no year-end scramble and your VAT figures are always ready when they are needed. Real-time access means you can see where you stand at any point.

Ongoing monthly
03

Tax Planning and Advisory

Knowing your likely tax position ahead of time means you can plan around it rather than react to it. For growing startups, that means advice on salary and dividend structure, R&D tax credits where applicable, and cash flow modelling to support early-stage decisions. The advice is practical and directly relevant to your stage.

Proactive, not reactive

Why Supreme Consulting

What makes the difference for startups

The early decisions matter more than most people realise. These are the four reasons new businesses tend to stick with us after the first year.

📅

Over 20 years of practical experience

Founded in 2005, Supreme Consulting has worked with hundreds of small businesses at every stage, including many that started exactly where you are now. That experience means common startup mistakes are spotted and avoided before they cost anything. You will not be the first new client to ask your question.

☁️

Cloud setup done from the start

Xero and QuickBooks Online are configured before the first transaction, not retrofitted when the records get messy. That means your books are clean, your VAT workings are accurate, and you have a dashboard that actually reflects where the business stands. Catching up later is always more expensive than starting right.

💷

Fixed fees, no surprises

Pricing is agreed upfront and does not move unless the scope changes. There are no hourly rates that quietly accumulate during busy periods, and no shock invoices at year end. You know what you are paying before the work starts, which is considerably more useful when you are watching cash flow closely.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

Most new clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed to require as little from you as possible while getting everything set up correctly.

1

A Brief Discovery Call

A 20–30 minute conversation covers your business, current setup, and what you actually need from an accountant. No obligation, no sales pressure. You will leave the call knowing exactly what is recommended and why.

2

A Clear, Fixed-Fee Proposal

You receive a written proposal setting out the scope, what is included, and the monthly or annual cost. Everything is itemised so you can see precisely what you are paying for and what falls outside the scope.

3

Onboarding and Cloud Setup

Cloud accounting is configured, any existing records are migrated or tidied, and registrations are put in motion. The transition is handled by us. Your job at this stage is mainly to answer a few questions and provide access to existing records.

4

Focus on the Business

Compliance is handled on schedule, questions get answered the same day you ask them, and you have an accountant who already understands your business before you pick up the phone. The financial side of the business is running as it should, which is what it should feel like.

Questions

Things new business owners usually ask

Should I set up as a sole trader or a limited company?+

The right answer depends on your expected profit level, your appetite for administrative overhead, and whether you need the liability separation that incorporation provides. For most businesses turning over more than around £30,000 to £40,000, a limited company tends to be more tax-efficient once you account for the salary and dividend structure. We cover this in the discovery call so you start as the right entity, not just the easiest one to register.

What does startup accounting actually cost?+

Pricing is fixed and agreed upfront based on the scope of services you need. A straightforward limited company package covering year-end accounts, corporation tax, and confirmation statement starts at a different level to a package that includes monthly bookkeeping, payroll, and VAT. You will receive an itemised proposal before committing to anything, so there are no surprises later.

I have not kept any proper records yet. Is that a problem?+

It is fairly common. Catch-up bookkeeping is a standard part of the onboarding process, and the cost depends on how far back the records go and what state they are in. It is worth being straightforward about this in the discovery call so the proposal reflects the real scope. Starting with clean, properly reconciled records is considerably better than trying to work backwards at year end.

Am I locked in if I sign up?+

There is no long-term contract. Services run on a monthly or annual basis depending on the package, and you can leave with reasonable notice. If you do leave, your books will be up to date and all records handed over in a format your next accountant can work with. The aim is for the relationship to continue because it is working, not because leaving is difficult.

Do I need to register for VAT straight away?+

Mandatory VAT registration is required once taxable turnover exceeds £90,000 in a rolling 12-month period. Voluntary registration below that threshold can be beneficial in some circumstances, particularly if your customers are VAT-registered businesses. The threshold is monitored as part of the ongoing service, so you will not cross it without being aware of the obligation and prepared for it.

When will I know what my first tax bill is likely to be?+

For a limited company, the corporation tax liability is calculated as part of the year-end accounts process, which covers the 12-month accounting period. With monthly bookkeeping in place, a reasonable estimate is available well before the year closes. That means you can hold the right amount aside rather than receiving a figure nine months after the year end with nine months less time to plan around it.

Ready when you are

Start the business right, not just quickly.

A short call is enough to work out the right structure, what needs to be registered, and what a sensible fixed-fee package looks like for your stage. No obligation.
