Sound familiar?
Not sure where your new business actually stands?
Most Hampshire startups spend their first year reacting — choosing the wrong structure, missing VAT registration thresholds, running payroll late, or keeping books in a spreadsheet that nobody fully trusts. None of it is catastrophic on its own. Together, it adds up to a tax bill that arrives as a surprise and compliance that costs more to fix than it would have cost to get right.
- ✕ No clear picture of what tax will be owed this year
- ✕ Books kept manually or in a spreadsheet that is already behind
- ✕ Unsure whether to register for VAT, set up payroll, or both
What a well-run startup looks like
The compliance side is handled from the outset. Your cloud accounting is live, your obligations are visible, and the decisions you need to make are explained in plain terms before they become pressing.
- ✓ Your tax position tracked and visible throughout the year
- ✓ Books live on Xero or QuickBooks, current and reconciled monthly
- ✓ VAT, payroll, and PAYE obligations confirmed before you need them
- ✓ Fixed monthly fee — scope agreed upfront, no hidden add-ons

Why Hampshire startups choose us
There are plenty of accountants who will file your returns. Fewer will tell you what to watch before the problem arrives.
Over 20 years of startup experience
Supreme Consulting has been working with new and early-stage businesses since 2005. That means the questions your startup will face in its first two years are ones we have seen many times before. The advice you get is grounded in what actually happens, not textbook scenarios.
Cloud accounting from day one
Xero and QuickBooks Online are set up properly at the start, not retrofitted after a year of messy records. You get real-time visibility of your numbers from the beginning, with integrations configured to match how your business actually operates.
Fixed fees, agreed in advance
Your monthly fee is confirmed before we start, covering the scope of services agreed. No hourly billing that escalates when something takes longer than expected. If your needs change, we discuss it openly and adjust the scope together.
Up and running in four steps
Most clients are onboarded within a week of their discovery call. The process is straightforward and the admin burden lands almost entirely with us.
A No-Obligation Discovery Call
We start with a conversation about your business, where you are now, and what you need from your accountant. No preparation required on your part. You leave the call with a clear picture of what working together would look like.
A Clear, Fixed-Fee Proposal
You receive a written proposal covering exactly what is included, what is not, and what the monthly fee will be. No vague scopes or provisional rates. If anything is unclear, we work through it before you sign anything.
Onboarding and Cloud Setup
We migrate your existing records, set up your Xero or QuickBooks environment, and configure any integrations your business needs. If your books are behind, we handle the catch-up. You do not need to sort them first.
Your Business, Running Properly
Compliance is handled, your books are current, and your tax position is visible. Regular check-ins and proactive advice mean you hear about things before they become problems. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Things startups usually ask us
Do I need to form a limited company, or can I start as a sole trader?
It depends on your projected turnover, your personal tax position, and whether you have liability concerns. Most early-stage businesses in Hampshire start as sole traders and incorporate once profits reach a level where it makes sense to do so. We talk through the numbers with you at the discovery call and confirm what structure suits your situation — there is no single right answer.
What does startup accounting with Supreme Consulting actually cost?
Pricing is fixed-fee and scoped to your business. A sole trader starting out pays considerably less than a limited company needing bookkeeping, payroll, and VAT on top of year-end accounts. We confirm the monthly fee in writing before you commit to anything. Pricing tiers for standard packages will be published on the pricing page once finalised — in the meantime, a free quote takes around ten minutes.
My books are a mess from the past few months. Can you still help?
Yes. Most new clients arrive with records in some degree of disarray. We handle the catch-up as part of onboarding, bringing everything current before setting up the ongoing monthly process. There is usually a one-off catch-up fee depending on the volume of work involved, which we confirm upfront so there are no surprises.
Am I locked into a long-term contract?
No. There is no minimum term. If the arrangement is not working for you, you give us notice and we transfer your records cleanly. We would rather you stay because the service is worth it than because leaving is complicated.
When do I need to register for VAT, and will you monitor that for me?
The current VAT registration threshold is £90,000 of taxable turnover in any rolling 12-month period. As part of your ongoing bookkeeping, we monitor your revenue against that threshold so you are not caught out by a registration obligation you were not expecting. We also advise on voluntary registration if it makes commercial sense before you hit the threshold.
How far ahead will I know what my tax bill is going to be?
With monthly bookkeeping and quarterly management accounts in place, you should have a clear picture of your corporation tax liability well before your year end, not after it. We flag the expected figure as part of each quarterly review so you can plan your cash flow accordingly. Surprises at filing are largely avoidable when the books are current.
