Sound familiar?
Running a limited company should not feel like this.
Contractors operating through a personal service company carry a fair amount of administrative weight. Corporation tax deadlines, confirmation statements, director’s Self Assessment, VAT quarters, IR35 considerations — each one manageable on its own, collectively more demanding than most people plan for. And when the accountant is hard to reach or sends a bill with no warning, it adds friction that has nothing to do with the work you are actually paid to do.
- ✕ Tax bill arrives as a surprise because no one tracked your liability during the year
- ✕ IR35 status never formally reviewed, leaving you exposed if HMRC asks questions
- ✕ Year-end accounts filed late because your previous accountant kept going quiet
What sorted looks like
Your compliance is handled on a clear fixed fee, your tax position is visible throughout the year, and IR35 is reviewed properly rather than guessed at. Straightforward, which is frankly how it should be.
- ✓ Corporation tax liability tracked monthly so you know what to set aside
- ✓ IR35 position reviewed and documented before you take on a new contract
- ✓ Year-end accounts and CT600 filed on time, every time, with no last-minute scramble
- ✓ Fixed monthly fee covering all core compliance — no unexpected invoices

Everything a contractor’s limited company needs
Core compliance handled as standard, with advisory and bookkeeping available as add-ons — scoped clearly and priced before anything starts.
Year-End Accounts and Corporation Tax
Your statutory accounts and CT600 are prepared and filed with Companies House and HMRC on time. Your director’s Self Assessment is included where required. No filing surprises, and your tax position is tracked through the year rather than calculated at the last minute.
Core complianceIR35 Review and Contract Advice
Before you sign a new contract or renew an existing one, your IR35 status is reviewed against current HMRC guidelines. You receive a written opinion you can rely on rather than a verbal reassurance. If HMRC ever asks, the groundwork is already done.
Tax protectionVAT, Bookkeeping, and Cloud Accounts
Quarterly VAT returns are filed under Making Tax Digital using Xero or QuickBooks Online, keeping your records current rather than catching up at year-end. You get real-time visibility of income, expenses, and tax position — accessible from wherever you are working.

What separates us from a generic accountant
Twenty-one years of practice means the common contractor questions are already answered before you ask them.
IR35 handled, not avoided
Most accountants file your accounts and leave IR35 to you. We review your contracts against the current off-payroll rules and produce a written status determination you can actually use. If your engagement changes, we reassess — you do not have to ask.
Fixed fee, no surprises
Every engagement starts with a written, fixed-fee proposal. The scope covers what is included and what is not, so there is no ambiguity at invoice time. If something falls outside scope, you are told in advance and quoted separately before any work starts.
Cloud records you can see
Your books are maintained on Xero or QuickBooks Online, which means your income, tax position, and upcoming liabilities are visible whenever you want them. You do not wait until the year-end to find out what you owe.
Up and running in four steps
The onboarding process is straightforward and most of the work sits with us, not you.
A brief discovery call
We spend twenty to thirty minutes understanding your current setup, contract situation, and what you need from an accountant. No obligation. You leave the call knowing exactly what we would recommend and what it would cost.
A clear, written proposal
You receive a fixed-fee proposal covering the services in scope, the timeline, and what is included. Read it, ask questions, and confirm when you are ready. Nothing ambiguous.
We handle the transition
We contact your previous accountant, retrieve your records, migrate everything to the cloud, and deal with any catch-up work required. The administrative side of switching sits with us, not you.
Compliance running in the background
Once set up, your deadlines are tracked, your VAT quarters are filed, and your tax position is monitored through the year. You focus on the contract work. The accounting runs in the background and does not require your attention unless something needs a decision.
“I’m so grateful for the help received with my small cleaning business. Stuart holds your hand and advises throughout!”
What contractors usually want to know
Do you understand how contracting through a limited company actually works?
Yes. The contractor limited company structure — salary and dividends, director’s loan account, IR35 considerations, the interaction between corporation tax and personal tax — is standard work for us. You will not need to explain the basics before getting a useful answer.
What does contractor accountancy cost and what is included?
Pricing is fixed-fee and scoped to your situation. A typical limited company contractor package covers year-end statutory accounts, the CT600 corporation tax return, confirmation statement, and director’s Self Assessment. Bookkeeping, VAT returns, and payroll are priced separately and added to a monthly retainer where required. You receive a written proposal before anything starts.
My books are behind and I have not filed in over a year. Can you still help?
Fairly common. We assess the catch-up work required, quote for it separately from ongoing fees, and handle the backlog before bringing everything current. HMRC late filing penalties exist regardless of the cause, and the sooner the filing is done the simpler the remedy — so it is worth acting rather than waiting.
Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?
No long-term contract. We operate on a rolling monthly basis. If you want to leave, you give reasonable notice, we hand over your records in good order, and you owe nothing beyond the work already completed. We would rather earn your continued business than enforce it.
Can you review my IR35 position before I sign a new contract?
Yes, and this is worth doing before you commit rather than after. We review the contract terms and working practices against the current off-payroll rules and provide a written status opinion. If the contract terms need adjusting to reflect the actual working arrangement, we will say so. A verbal assurance from a client is not a defence if HMRC investigates.
How do I know what my tax bill will be before the Self Assessment deadline?
Your corporation tax liability and personal tax position are tracked through the year using your cloud accounting records, which means an estimate is available well before the filing deadline. You will not receive a final figure for the first time in January when payment is due.
Less to chase, less to worry about. Start with a call.
A short discovery call is all it takes to get a fixed-fee proposal covering your contractor accounts, corporation tax, and Self Assessment — with no obligation to proceed.
