Personal Tax Planning Lymington

Personal Tax Planning — Lymington

Know your tax position, well in advance.

Most people only think about personal tax when HMRC sends a reminder. That is usually too late to do anything useful about it. Stuart Green at Supreme Consulting works with individuals, directors, and sole traders across Lymington and Hampshire to plan ahead — fixed fees, no jargon, replies within one working day.

  • Your Self Assessment filed accurately and on time, every year
  • Capital gains and inheritance tax reviewed before decisions are made
  • Director salary and dividend mix structured to keep more of what you earn
  • No surprise tax bills — your liability known months before the deadline

No long-term contract. If it is not the right fit after the first engagement, you leave with your affairs in order and nothing further owed.

Sound familiar?

Still not sure what your tax bill will be?

A lot of people file their Self Assessment in January having done very little to reduce the bill. Capital gains events, inheritance tax exposure, director remuneration — these are areas where the timing of a decision genuinely matters. Once the tax year closes, most of the options close with it. Planning is the part that actually saves money; filing is just the paperwork.

  • Self Assessment filed at the last minute with no time left to plan
  • Uncertain whether your salary and dividend split is tax-efficient
  • Capital gains or inheritance tax exposure sitting unreviewed for years

What planned looks like

Personal tax planning is not complicated when someone who knows the rules looks at your position properly. The difference is usually timing — getting the right advice before a transaction, not after.

  • Your Self Assessment prepared with allowances and deductions fully considered
  • Director remuneration reviewed annually so your tax position is as efficient as it can be
  • CGT and IHT reviewed before assets are sold or transferred, not after
  • Fixed fee quoted upfront — no hourly surprises when the return is more involved than expected

What you get

Personal tax services included in the quote

Whether it is a straightforward Self Assessment or a more involved review of your CGT, IHT, or director remuneration position, the scope is agreed and priced before any work begins.

01

Self Assessment and Personal Tax Returns

Your SA100 prepared accurately and filed on time, covering employment income, dividends, rental income, capital gains, and overseas income where relevant. Allowances and deductions are checked properly — not just the obvious ones. You will know your liability well before the January deadline.

Included as standard
02

Capital Gains and Inheritance Tax Planning

CGT and IHT exposure tends to build quietly until a transaction forces a decision. Reviewing your position before selling a property, gifting an asset, or restructuring a portfolio gives you options. After the event, the options are considerably narrower.

Advisory service
03

Director Remuneration and Tax Efficiency Reviews

The most tax-efficient combination of salary, dividends, pension contributions, and benefits changes as thresholds shift and your income grows. An annual review of your remuneration structure is often where the clearest savings are found. This is included in director-level engagements and available as a standalone review.

Why Supreme Consulting

What makes the difference for personal tax clients

There is no shortage of accountants who will file a Self Assessment. The question is whether they review your position properly before doing so.

📅

Over 20 years of tax experience

Founded in 2005, Supreme Consulting has worked with directors, landlords, sole traders, and individuals across Hampshire for more than two decades. Stuart works directly with every client on personal tax matters — no handoffs to juniors. The range of situations handled over 20 years means your position is rarely one that has not been seen before.

💷

Fixed fee, agreed before any work starts

Personal tax returns vary in complexity, and hourly billing can turn a simple engagement into an unpleasant surprise. Every engagement at Supreme Consulting is quoted on a fixed-fee basis once the scope is understood. You know what you are paying before anything is filed, and the price does not change unless the scope does.

💡

Planning before filing, not just filing

Most accountants file what they are given. The more useful service is reviewing what can be done before the year-end closes off your options. CGT timing, pension contributions, dividend levels, and gift exemptions all require a decision before the relevant date passes. That proactive review is part of how Supreme Consulting approaches personal tax, not an optional extra.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most clients are onboarded within a week. The process is designed to require as little of your time as possible while ensuring the work is done properly from the start.

1

A brief discovery call

A short, no-obligation conversation to understand your current tax situation, what you need help with, and whether the engagement is straightforward or requires more detailed review. You will leave the call knowing what happens next.

2

A clear, fixed-fee proposal

You receive a written proposal covering exactly what is included, the timeline, and the price. No open-ended engagements, no hourly rates that accumulate as the work becomes more involved. If the scope changes, so does the price — agreed in advance.

3

We gather what we need

A short checklist of the information required is sent to you. For most Self Assessment clients this is straightforward — P60s, dividend vouchers, rental summaries, and any relevant transaction details. The majority of the legwork from this point is ours.

4

Filed, confirmed, and done

Your return is prepared, reviewed with you before submission, and filed. Your tax liability is confirmed in writing with any payment dates noted clearly. Next year, the process is shorter because the groundwork is already in place.

Questions

What people ask before getting in touch

I have rental income, dividends, and a capital gain in the same year — can you handle all of that in one return?+

Yes. A Self Assessment return covering multiple income sources is well within the standard scope. Rental income, dividend income, employment income, and capital gains disposals are all reported on the SA100 and supplementary pages. Where a capital gain involves property, the 60-day CGT reporting requirement is also covered. The complexity simply affects the fee, which is quoted before any work starts.

What does personal tax planning typically cost?+

All work is quoted on a fixed-fee basis once the scope is understood. A straightforward Self Assessment with employment income and dividends is priced at the lower end. Returns involving property disposals, foreign income, multiple rental properties, or inheritance tax planning carry a higher fee reflecting the additional work involved. You will receive a written quote before anything is agreed, and the price does not change unless the scope does.

My previous accountant filed the last two returns late and I am not sure they are accurate — can you sort that out?+

Late or inaccurate returns are a reasonably common situation to pick up. A review of prior-year submissions is available as part of onboarding. Where errors have led to an overpayment of tax, an amendment can be submitted to HMRC to reclaim it. Where underpayments exist, it is better to identify and resolve them proactively than to wait for HMRC to notice. The catch-up cost is scoped and quoted before any work starts.

Is there a minimum contract term or notice period?+

No long-term contracts. Most personal tax clients engage on an annual basis — one return, one fixed fee, repeated each year if the relationship works. There is no lock-in and no notice period beyond the current engagement. If you decide to move elsewhere after a return is filed, your records are provided in full and nothing further is owed.

I am a director who takes salary and dividends — should I be doing anything differently to reduce my tax?+

Possibly. The most tax-efficient combination of salary, dividends, and pension contributions depends on your total income, the company’s profit position, and current thresholds — all of which change. An annual review of your remuneration structure is available as a standalone service or included within a broader director-level engagement. The review typically identifies whether any changes are worth making before the next tax year begins.

How far in advance should I be thinking about inheritance tax?+

Earlier than most people do. The seven-year rule on gifts, the use of annual exemptions, and the interaction between property ownership and nil-rate bands all require decisions well before the event. IHT planning is not something to address reactively. A review of your current position and exposure can be completed at any point and does not require an imminent transaction to be worthwhile.
