Sound familiar?
Behind on the books and hoping it will sort itself out?
Most owner-managed businesses run their bookkeeping reactively — chasing receipts at year-end, reconciling months in arrears, and discovering VAT problems after the fact. By the time the accountant sees the figures, half the year is already gone. The books are not wrong, exactly. They are just always late.
- Months of transactions unreconciled and your bank balance makes no sense
- No idea what your tax position is until the accountant tells you at year-end
- Hours spent finding receipts and explaining transactions you have half-forgotten
What current books look like
Bookkeeping handled monthly means the numbers are always close to reality. Your VAT is visible before the deadline, your year-end takes a fraction of the usual time, and you can actually look at your figures without dreading what you will find.
- Bank reconciled monthly — your balance reflects what is actually there
- Tax position visible throughout the year, not only when it is too late
- Receipts and transactions categorised as they come in, not in a panic
- Fixed monthly fee — no bill surprises regardless of how busy the month gets

What the monthly bookkeeping service covers
The service is built around keeping your records current, your VAT manageable, and your year-end straightforward. Everything runs through Xero or QuickBooks Online.
Monthly Bookkeeping and Reconciliation
Transactions categorised, bank accounts reconciled, and records kept current every month. You get a clear picture of where the business stands without waiting until the end of the financial year to find out.
Included as standardCloud Accounting Setup and Access
Your books run on Xero or QuickBooks Online, giving you real-time access to your figures from any device. If you are migrating from a spreadsheet or a previous accountant, we handle the setup and data transfer.
Xero and QuickBooks OnlineCatch-Up and Clean-Up Bookkeeping
If the books are behind — whether by weeks or years — we will bring them up to date before moving to monthly maintenance. A one-off catch-up quote is provided before any work begins, so the cost is clear from the start.

What makes this service worth switching for
Any accountant can file the figures. The difference is whether your books are actually useful to you throughout the year.
Cloud Access, All Year Round
Your books run on Xero or QuickBooks Online, both of which give you a live view of income, expenses, and bank balances whenever you need them. You are not waiting for a quarterly report to know where things stand. If your current setup involves spreadsheets emailed back and forth, the improvement is fairly immediate.
Over 20 Years of Practical Experience
Supreme Consulting has been working with small businesses, contractors, and sole traders since 2005. Stuart works directly with every client, which means the person doing your books is also the person who can tell you what they mean commercially. That combination is less common than it should be.
Fixed Monthly Fee, No Surprises
Bookkeeping is priced on a fixed monthly retainer based on transaction volume and complexity. The quote is agreed before any work begins and does not change unless the scope of work does. No hourly rates, no vague estimates.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Switching accountants or setting up bookkeeping for the first time takes less effort than most people expect. The process is managed from our end.
A brief discovery call
We start with a no-obligation conversation to understand your business, your current setup, and what you need from your accountant. It takes around 20 minutes and there is no pitch at the end of it — just a clear picture of what would be involved.
A clear, fixed-fee proposal
You will receive a written proposal covering exactly what is included, the monthly fee, and any one-off catch-up cost if the books need bringing up to date. No vague scope, no surprise additions.
Onboarding and cloud setup
We handle the migration of your records to Xero or QuickBooks Online, connect your bank feeds, and set up any integrations relevant to your business. If you are switching from another accountant, we manage the handover directly.
Books current, ongoing
From month one, your bookkeeping is handled on a regular cycle. Your figures are current, your VAT is visible ahead of deadlines, and your year-end is a process rather than a panic. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.
“Stuart is a thorough efficient worker who produces good quality results at a reasonable price.”
Things people usually ask before getting started
Do you handle bookkeeping for my specific type of business, or is it a generic service?
The bookkeeping setup is tailored to how your business actually operates. A contractor invoicing on day-rate works differently from an e-commerce seller processing hundreds of transactions a month, which works differently again from a sole trader running a service business. We ask the right questions at the outset so the chart of accounts, bank rules, and reporting reflect what is useful to you — not a generic template.
What does bookkeeping cost and what is included in the monthly fee?
Pricing is based on transaction volume and the complexity of your business. The monthly retainer covers bank reconciliation, transaction categorisation, supplier and customer records, and access to your Xero or QuickBooks Online account. A written quote is provided before any work begins. If there is a catch-up element — meaning the books are behind — that is priced separately as a one-off and agreed upfront.
My books are in a bit of a state. Is that a problem for switching?
It is not unusual. A significant proportion of new clients arrive with records that are partially reconciled, categorised inconsistently, or simply months behind. We assess the catch-up work required during the discovery call and provide a fixed quote to bring everything up to date before the monthly service begins. You will not be managing that process — we will.
Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?
There is no long-term contract. The service runs on a monthly basis and you can give notice at any time. If you leave, your records stay in your Xero or QuickBooks Online account and are fully accessible. We do not hold data as a retention tool.
Do you work with businesses outside Hampshire?
Yes. The service is delivered remotely and cloud-first, so location is not a constraint. The majority of bookkeeping work is done without the need for in-person meetings. Clients are based across the UK, from Hampshire and the South Coast to further afield.
Will my bookkeeping feed into my VAT return and year-end accounts?
Yes, and that is partly the point. Bookkeeping done monthly on Xero or QuickBooks Online means your VAT figures are ready well before the deadline, and your year-end accounts require far less reconstruction work. If you also use us for VAT returns or annual accounts, the data flows directly — no duplication, no re-entry.
