Self-assessment tax returns

Self-Assessment Tax Returns

Your tax return handled, accurately and on time.

Most people filing self-assessment are either doing it themselves and not entirely sure they have it right, or paying an accountant who turns it around at the last minute. Stuart Green has been preparing SA100 returns for sole traders, directors, landlords, and freelancers since 2005. Fixed fee, filed well before the deadline, response within one working day.

  • Know your tax liability months before HMRC sends the reminder
  • Allowable expenses identified so you are not overpaying
  • Accurate filing with no last-minute scramble or penalty risk
  • Plain-English explanation of what you owe and why

No long-term contract. If it is not working after your first return, you leave with your records in order and nothing further owed.

Sound familiar?

Still not sure your self-assessment is right?

Self-assessment is one of those things that looks straightforward until it is not. Directors with dividend income, landlords with multiple properties, freelancers with mixed sources — the return gets more involved than the HMRC guidance suggests. Most people file something and hope for the best. Some miss reliefs they were entitled to. A few file late and pay for it.

  • ✕ Filed it yourself but not confident everything was included correctly
  • ✕ Not sure which expenses are genuinely allowable against your income
  • ✕ No idea what your tax bill will be until HMRC sends the statement

What a handled return looks like

Your return is prepared by someone who has been doing this for over two decades, reviewed for accuracy, filed on time, and explained in plain English. You know the number well before it is due.

  • ✓ Return reviewed thoroughly so nothing is missed or incorrectly claimed
  • ✓ Allowable expenses identified and applied — you keep more of what you earn
  • ✓ Tax liability confirmed well before the January deadline, no surprises
  • ✓ Fixed fee agreed upfront — no hourly billing for questions along the way

What you get

What the fixed fee covers

The service is built around getting your return right the first time, with enough review and communication that you understand what has been filed and why.

01

SA100 Prepared and Filed

Your full self-assessment return is prepared, reviewed for accuracy, and submitted to HMRC on your behalf. This covers employment income, self-employment profits, dividend income, rental income, capital gains, and any other relevant sources. You will not be chasing a deadline.

Included as standard
02

Expenses Review and Tax Reduction

Before the return is finalised, your income and expenditure is reviewed to ensure every allowable expense has been captured. For sole traders and landlords in particular, this step frequently reduces the final tax liability. If there is a relief available, it will be applied.

Included as standard
03

Tax Liability Confirmed in Advance

Once the return is drafted, your tax figure is confirmed and explained clearly before anything is submitted. You know what you owe, when it is due, and what your payment on account position looks like for the following year. No surprises in January.

Why Supreme Consulting

Why clients choose us over filing it themselves

Twenty-one years of self-assessment returns across a wide range of income types means the questions you have are ones that have come up before.

📅

Two Decades of SA Returns

Supreme Consulting has been preparing self-assessment returns since 2005. Directors with complex dividend structures, landlords with multiple properties, freelancers with mixed income — the return types that tend to trip people up are handled as a matter of course. You will not need to explain your situation from first principles.

💷

Fixed Fee Agreed Before You Start

The fee is confirmed before any work begins, based on the scope and complexity of your return. There are no hourly charges for questions asked along the way, and nothing is added without your agreement. You know the cost before you commit.

💬

Plain English, Not Jargon

When the return is ready, it is explained clearly — what income has been included, what expenses have been claimed, what the liability is, and what the payment on account position means for next year. Most clients find this more useful than the HMRC calculation alone.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

The process is designed to be straightforward on your end. Most of the work happens on ours.

1

A Brief Discovery Call

A no-obligation call to understand your income sources, your current setup, and what the return needs to cover. This takes around fifteen minutes and means the quote you receive is accurate rather than indicative.

2

Fixed-Fee Proposal Sent

You receive a clear written proposal confirming what is included, what information we need from you, and the timeline to filing. No ambiguity about scope or cost.

3

Send Your Records

You provide your income figures, expense records, and any supporting documents — in whatever format you have them. We handle the organisation, calculation, and preparation. There is no particular format required on your end.

4

Filed, Confirmed, Done

Your return is prepared, reviewed, and shared with you for approval before it is submitted to HMRC. You sign off, it is filed, and you receive written confirmation. Your tax liability is confirmed, your payment dates are clear, and there is nothing left sitting in a drawer.

Questions

Questions people ask before getting started

My income comes from several different sources — dividends, rental income, and freelance work. Can you handle a return that covers all of them?+

Yes. Returns with mixed income types — employment, self-employment, dividends, rental, capital gains — are prepared regularly. Each income source is treated correctly for tax purposes, and the interaction between them (which affects your personal allowance position and higher-rate liability) is accounted for as part of the preparation. You will not need to work out how they fit together before sending your information.

What does it cost, and what exactly is included in the fee?+

Pricing is fixed and confirmed before any work begins, based on the scope and complexity of your return. The fee covers preparation, review, approval, and filing of the SA100, along with any supplementary pages required for your income types. Questions asked during the process are included — there are no additional charges for reasonable correspondence. The quote you receive at the start is what you pay.

My records are not in great shape. I have expenses in a spreadsheet, some receipts in a folder, and I am not sure I have tracked everything correctly. Is that a problem?+

It is not unusual. Records arrive in all sorts of states, and part of the preparation process involves reviewing what you have and identifying what is missing or unclear. Where records are incomplete, you will be asked specifically for what is needed rather than sent a generic list. If there is catch-up bookkeeping required to get a proper picture of your figures, that is scoped separately and quoted clearly before work begins.

Is there a minimum contract or notice period if I decide to move on?+

There is no long-term contract for self-assessment. The service is agreed on a return-by-return basis, and you are under no obligation to continue beyond the return you have engaged for. If you decide to move elsewhere, your records and filed returns are provided to you or your new accountant promptly. Nothing is withheld.

What if HMRC opens an enquiry into my return after it has been filed?+

HMRC can open an enquiry into any return within twelve months of filing, and occasionally beyond that where there is reason to. If an enquiry is opened into a return prepared by Supreme Consulting, the initial response is handled and you are kept informed throughout. If the enquiry extends into a formal investigation, that is scoped and quoted as a separate engagement. You will not be left to deal with HMRC correspondence on your own.

Can you give me an estimate of my tax bill before the return is finalised?+

Yes. Once your income and expense figures are gathered, an estimated liability is provided before the return is formally prepared. This means you have time to plan for the payment rather than discovering the figure shortly before it is due. For those with payments on account, the following year’s position is also explained at the same time.
