Fixed fees, cloud accounting on Xero or QuickBooks, and replies within one working day.

- Year-end accounts and corporation tax filed without the scramble
- Your tax position visible from month one, not month twelve

Sound familiar?
Not sure if you set your business up correctly?
A lot of new business owners register a limited company, open a bank account, and start trading — then realise several months in that the structure, VAT position, or director salary setup was not quite right. By the time an accountant gets involved, there is tidying up to do. It is rarely catastrophic. It is almost always avoidable.
- Unsure whether to trade as a limited company or sole trader
- No bookkeeping system in place, so year-end will be a mess
- No idea what your corporation tax or personal tax bill will be
What a proper start looks like
Getting the foundations right at the beginning costs less than fixing them later. The right structure, a working bookkeeping system, and a clear view of your tax obligations from day one — that is what early-stage accounting should deliver.
- Structure advice before you register, so the decision is informed
- Cloud bookkeeping live from month one, so nothing piles up
- Tax estimates updated quarterly so there are no year-end surprises
- Fixed monthly fee — no hourly rates, no unexpected invoices

What makes the difference for a new business
Most accountants will file your accounts once a year. That is not enough when you are still working out how the business runs.
Over 20 years working with new businesses
Founded in 2005, Supreme Consulting has helped a considerable number of owner-managed businesses get off the ground. The questions you have at month three — whether to register for VAT, how to pay yourself, what to put through the company — have been answered before, many times. You will not need to explain the basics.
Bookkeeping live from the start
Certified in both Xero and QuickBooks Online, the firm sets up your cloud accounting before you start trading, not six months in when the records are already a problem. Connected bank feeds, automated categorisation, and a dashboard that tells you what the business is actually doing.
Fixed fees, scoped before you commit
Every engagement starts with a written, fixed-fee proposal covering exactly what is included and when. No hourly rates, no vague retainers, no end-of-year surprises. If your needs change, the scope is updated and agreed before any additional work begins.
Up and running in four steps
The process is straightforward. Most clients are fully onboarded within two weeks of their first conversation.
A 30-minute discovery call
No obligation, no sales pitch. The call covers your current setup, what stage the business is at, and what you actually need from an accountant. You will leave knowing whether we are the right fit and what a proposal would look like.
A clear, written proposal
You receive a fixed-fee proposal within one working day. It sets out every service included, the timeline, and the monthly cost. Nothing is added later without your agreement.
Onboarding and cloud setup
We handle the Xero or QuickBooks setup, connect your bank feeds, and migrate any existing records. If there is catch-up bookkeeping needed, it is scoped and priced as part of onboarding. You do not need to do much beyond share access and answer a few questions.
Accounts running, you building
With compliance handled and bookkeeping current, you have a clear picture of your tax position and cash flow without spending your evenings on it. Quarterly check-ins and same-day replies on questions — which is, frankly, the way it should be from the start.
“Stuart is a thorough efficient worker who produces good quality results at a reasonable price.”
Things new business owners usually ask
Should I set up as a limited company or a sole trader?
It depends on your expected profit, your personal tax position, your liability exposure, and whether you plan to take on staff or investment. There is no single right answer, and the decision is reversible — though incorporating later does involve some administration. The discovery call covers this specifically for your situation, and the advice is included in your onboarding.
What does startup accounting typically cost?
Pricing is fixed and scoped to your business. A basic limited company package covering year-end accounts, CT600, and confirmation statement starts at a monthly retainer that scales with the size and complexity of the business. Bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, and advisory services are priced as add-ons and quoted clearly before any work begins. There are no hourly rates and no end-of-year bills that were not agreed upfront.
I have already been trading for a few months with no proper records. Is that a problem?
It is common and it is fixable. Catch-up bookkeeping is scoped as part of onboarding — you will receive a fixed price for the catch-up work before anything starts, so there are no surprises. Once the records are current, the monthly bookkeeping keeps them that way. Most clients arrive with books in some state of disarray and leave onboarding with considerably less to worry about.
Am I tied in to a long-term contract?
No minimum term. The arrangement is reviewed at three months, and either party can give notice. If you leave, you receive clean, up-to-date records and everything needed for your next accountant to pick up without difficulty. Nothing is held back.
Do you help with R&D tax credits for early-stage tech businesses?
Yes. If your startup is developing software, a new product, or a technical process, R&D tax credits may be available under the current HMRC scheme. Eligibility is assessed as part of the advisory conversation — you do not need to have a formal R&D programme in place to qualify, but the costs and activities do need to be documented correctly. We handle the claim preparation and submission.
When will I know what my first tax bill is going to be?
With monthly bookkeeping in place, your corporation tax liability is estimated and updated each quarter based on actual figures. By the time your year-end arrives, there should be no surprises — the number is already in view. Director personal tax from salary and dividends is reviewed at the same time, so your Self Assessment position is clear well before the January deadline.
