Part-Time FD Services
Senior finance thinking, without the full-time cost.
Most growing businesses reach a point where the numbers need more than a bookkeeper, but a full-time Finance Director is hard to justify. A part-time FD gives you experienced commercial input on the decisions that matter. Fixed monthly fee, no surprises, and questions answered within one working day.
- Board-ready management accounts and financial reporting each month
- Cash flow forecasting that shows where the business is heading
- A senior finance voice when you are negotiating, planning, or raising funds
- Strategic oversight without the overhead of a full-time hire
No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean, well-documented financials and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?
Growing fast, but the finances are guesswork.
There is a particular stage many owner-managed businesses reach where compliance is handled, but the financial strategy is not. Decisions get made on instinct rather than numbers. Cash flow is a rough estimate. No one in the business has the seniority to challenge the plan, model the scenarios, or sit in the room when it matters.
- Major financial decisions made without a qualified senior finance view
- Cash flow forecasting done on a spreadsheet, when it gets done at all
- Lenders, investors, or buyers wanting financial rigour the business cannot yet demonstrate
What having an FD on your side looks like
A part-time FD slots into your business as a senior finance partner, available for the hours you need. The reporting is there, the forecasts are current, and there is someone with experience to pressure-test the thinking before you commit.
- Senior finance input on the decisions that matter, available when you need it
- Rolling cash flow models and management accounts reviewed and updated each month
- Investor-ready reporting and financial support when funding or exit is on the table
- Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront, scaled to your stage and requirements

What the part-time FD service covers
The scope is tailored to your stage, but these are the three areas that make the most material difference to growing owner-managed businesses.
Management Accounts and Reporting
Monthly or quarterly management accounts prepared and reviewed with you, covering profitability, cash position, and performance against plan. You know where the business stands before problems have time to develop, not after.
Included as standardCash Flow Modelling and Forecasting
Forward-looking cash flow models built around your actual business cycle, updated as circumstances change. If you are planning a hire, a capital purchase, or a period of growth, the numbers are stress-tested before the commitment is made.
Core advisoryStrategic and Board-Level Support
A senior finance perspective on pricing decisions, cost structure, funding options, and exit planning. Available to attend board meetings, support investor conversations, or provide a second opinion when the stakes are high.
Available as neededConsistent feedback across the client base
From sole traders to growing limited companies, the common thread is clarity, responsiveness, and advice that is grounded in commercial reality.

Why businesses choose a part-time FD here
There are several fractional FD options in the market. The difference tends to come down to how commercial the advice actually is, and whether the person on the other end of the phone has genuinely run the numbers on a real business.
Commercial advice, not theory
Stuart Green founded Supreme Consulting in 2005 and has spent over two decades working directly with owner-managed businesses on cash flow, planning, and performance. The advice is grounded in how businesses actually work, not how textbooks suggest they should. You will not receive a generic framework when a direct answer is the right one.
Numbers that are current and visible
Cloud accounting through Xero and QuickBooks Online means the data underpinning every management report and forecast is live, not a month old when you read it. Integrations are set up properly from the outset so the numbers you rely on for decisions are the right ones.
A fixed fee agreed at the start
The scope and the monthly fee are agreed before work begins. There are no hourly rates accruing in the background and no bill that arrives as a surprise at year-end. If the scope needs to change, that conversation happens upfront.
Up and running in four steps
The process is designed to be straightforward. Most clients are fully onboarded within two to three weeks of an initial conversation.
A conversation about your business
A no-obligation discovery call to understand where the business is now, what financial information you currently have, and what you need a part-time FD to help with. There is no sales pressure and no commitment required.
A clear, scoped proposal
You receive a written proposal outlining the specific services, the monthly fee, and what is included. Nothing ambiguous, nothing open-ended. You decide whether it makes sense before anything proceeds.
Onboarding and setup
We handle the transition from your current setup, whether that means migrating records to the cloud, reviewing existing accounts, or building the first cash flow model from scratch. The heavy lifting sits with us.
Senior finance, ongoing
Regular reporting, proactive input, and a senior finance contact available when decisions need making. The financial side of the business runs properly, and you have someone to call who already understands the numbers.

Things people usually ask before starting
How is a part-time FD different from my existing accountant?
Your accountant typically handles compliance: year-end accounts, tax returns, VAT. A part-time FD sits alongside that, focused on what the numbers mean for your decisions going forward. It is a different kind of work, and the two roles complement each other rather than overlap. Where your existing accountant is already handling compliance, the FD engagement can sit on top without disruption.
What does part-time FD support cost, and what is included?
Pricing is fixed monthly and scoped to the level of involvement your business needs. A lighter-touch engagement covering management accounts review and periodic advisory calls sits at a different level from a full fractional FD arrangement involving board attendance and investor reporting. The fee is agreed at proposal stage, and the scope is written down clearly so there are no ambiguities about what is and is not included.
Our financial records are in a mess. Can you still help?
Yes. Most businesses that engage an FD for the first time have books that need some degree of tidying before meaningful reporting is possible. A catch-up piece is included in the onboarding scope, and the cost of that is quoted separately and upfront. It is a common starting point and not something that delays the engagement materially.
Is there a minimum contract term?
There is no long-term lock-in. Monthly retainers run on a rolling basis with a standard notice period agreed at the outset, typically one month. If the arrangement is not working after a reasonable trial period, you leave with properly documented financials and nothing owed beyond the period worked.
Can a part-time FD support a funding round or investor conversation?
Yes. Preparing investor-ready financial models, reviewing pitch deck financials, and attending investor meetings are within scope for a fractional FD engagement. The level of involvement depends on the complexity of the raise and is agreed as part of the scope. For businesses considering exit or succession planning, that support is available as well.
Will I get visibility of my tax position as part of this service?
Tax visibility is a natural output of properly maintained management accounts and cash flow modelling. Corporation tax provisions are factored into the monthly numbers so there are no year-end surprises, and any personal tax planning considerations for directors are flagged as part of the ongoing relationship. For more complex tax planning, that can be scoped as an additional advisory engagement.
