Fractional CFO Services
Board-level financial thinking, without the full-time hire.
Most growing businesses reach a point where the spreadsheets are no longer enough but a full-time CFO is not yet justified. A fractional CFO gives you strategic financial input, cash flow oversight, and someone to hold the numbers to account, on a fixed monthly retainer with no long-term commitment required.
- Cash flow modelled and monitored before problems surface
- Management accounts that inform decisions, not just record history
- A senior finance voice at board or management meetings
- Financial strategy tied directly to your commercial goals
No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean, current financials and nothing owed.

Finance Made Far Less Stressful
“Makes dealing with finances far less stressful. They take the time to explain things.”
Sound familiar?
Growing fast, but flying blind on the numbers?
At a certain stage, knowing your year-end profit figure is not enough. Decisions about hiring, pricing, investment, and cash are being made on instinct rather than data. The monthly numbers arrive late if they arrive at all, and there is no one in the business whose job it is to think about financial strategy.
- Cash flow surprises landing weeks after you could have done something about them
- No management accounts to base hiring or investment decisions on
- Strategic finance input missing entirely from board conversations
What having a CFO in your corner looks like
A fractional CFO from Supreme Consulting works alongside your business on a structured monthly basis. You get the financial intelligence and strategic input of a senior finance director, scoped to what your business actually needs right now.
- Cash flow modelled monthly so you see problems 90 days before they arrive
- Management accounts produced and interpreted, with commentary that drives decisions
- Strategic finance input at every board meeting, without the overhead of a full-time salary
- Fixed monthly fee, scoped to your business size — no billable hours, no surprises

What your fractional CFO retainer covers
Each engagement is scoped to your business. The core elements that most clients need are set out below, with additional modules available where relevant.
Management Accounts and Reporting
Monthly or quarterly management accounts produced to board standard, with written commentary on performance, margin, and variance. You will know where the business stands before the month closes, not six weeks after. Delivered via your cloud accounting platform with a dashboard you can actually use.
Included as standardCash Flow Modelling and Forecasting
A rolling 13-week cash flow model built around your real trading patterns, updated monthly and flagging pressure points in advance. Financing decisions, supplier timing, and payroll all become considerably more manageable when you can see what is coming. Scenarios can be modelled for growth, contraction, or major capital events.
Included as standardStrategic Advice and Board Support
A senior finance perspective at management meetings, investor presentations, or planning sessions. This covers pricing strategy, cost structure, profitability by product or division, and financial input into growth decisions. You will have someone to call when a commercial decision has financial implications you want to think through properly.

Why businesses choose us as their fractional CFO
There is no shortage of accountants. What most growing businesses actually need is someone who understands commercial decisions, not just compliance. Here is what makes the difference.
Twenty years of commercial experience
Stuart Green founded Supreme Consulting in 2005 and has spent over two decades working directly with owner-managed businesses on cash flow, business planning, and performance management. The advice you receive is built on that experience, applied to your specific situation. There is no junior working through a checklist on your behalf.
Numbers that inform decisions
Management accounts and cash flow models are only useful if they are interpreted and acted on. The fractional CFO service at Supreme Consulting is built around making financial information genuinely useful to you, not just producing it. Every reporting pack comes with commentary that tells you what the numbers mean for your next decision.
Fixed fee, no billable hour anxiety
The retainer is agreed upfront and covers the scope of work clearly defined in your proposal. You will not avoid calling because you are watching the clock. Questions get answered when they arise, and the monthly fee does not change because you had a busy quarter.
Up and running in four steps
Most clients are fully onboarded within two weeks. The process is straightforward and we handle the transition work.
A discovery call first
We start with a no-obligation conversation about your business, your current finance setup, and what you actually need from a fractional CFO. This takes around 30 minutes. You will leave the call with a clear sense of what a working engagement would look like.
A clear, fixed proposal
You receive a written proposal covering scope, deliverables, and monthly fee. No vague retainer with undefined hours — just a plain description of what is included and what you are paying. If the scope needs adjusting after that conversation, we adjust it.
Onboarding and access
We connect to your accounting platform, review your historical data, and establish the reporting framework that suits your business. If your books need tidying before management accounts can be produced reliably, we flag that upfront and quote for the catch-up separately.
Ongoing, without the overhead
From month one, you have a senior finance contact who knows your numbers and thinks about your business between calls. Management accounts arrive on schedule, the cash flow model stays current, and commercial decisions have someone to run them past. Which is, frankly, how it should work.
“Stuart is a thorough efficient worker who produces good quality results at a reasonable price.”
Things people usually ask us first
What does a fractional CFO actually do differently from my existing accountant?
An accountant’s core job is compliance: keeping the books current, filing returns, and making sure you are not late with HMRC. A fractional CFO focuses on what the numbers mean for your business going forward. That covers cash flow forecasting, profitability analysis, pricing decisions, and strategic financial input at board level. The two roles complement each other and can often be combined into a single retainer where it makes sense.
How much does a fractional CFO retainer cost?
Pricing is fixed monthly and scoped to your business. A lighter engagement covering management accounts and a monthly review sits at a lower retainer than one that includes board attendance, cash flow modelling, and investor reporting. We quote clearly once we understand your setup and what you need, and the proposal lays out exactly what is included. No billable hours and no invoices that arrive without warning.
My books are a mess. Does that need to be sorted before we start?
Often, yes — management accounts are only as reliable as the underlying bookkeeping. If your records need catch-up or clean-up work before we can produce reporting you would trust, we will say so during onboarding and quote for that separately. Most clients who come to us in that position are in reasonable shape within four to six weeks. It is a common starting point.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. Engagements run on a rolling monthly basis with one month’s notice to exit. If the arrangement is not delivering value, you are not locked in. You will keep everything we have produced, including your management accounts, cash flow model, and any financial documentation prepared during the engagement.
Can you attend board meetings or investor calls on our behalf?
Yes. Board or management meeting attendance can be included in the retainer scope or added as a module. We can also support investor presentations, lender discussions, or due diligence processes where a credible finance voice is needed. This is agreed upfront and reflected in the proposal rather than billed as an additional hourly charge.
Will I be able to see my financial position in real time, not just at month end?
Yes. For clients on Xero or QuickBooks Online, we set up live dashboards that give you a current view of cash, revenue, and key metrics between formal reporting periods. The management accounts provide the detailed monthly picture, and the dashboard gives you a working view in between. You will not be waiting for a month-end pack to know roughly where you stand.
Strategic finance input, without the full-time cost.
A fixed monthly retainer covering management accounts, cash flow oversight, and senior financial advice. Scoped to your business, priced clearly, no long-term contract.
