Sound familiar?
Still not sure what your tax bill is this year?
Dentists are high earners on paper and frequently underprepared on tax. Associate income, dividends from a practice company, pension contributions, and equipment purchases interact in ways that most generalist accountants do not think through proactively. The result is a self assessment filed in January with little advance warning of what it will say, and a tax bill that arrives rather than gets planned for.
- ✕ Tax bill arrives in January with no prior visibility or planning
- ✕ NHS associate income and private fee income handled as the same thing
- ✕ Equipment purchases and capital allowances not claimed correctly or on time
What sorted looks like
Your accounts reflect how a dental practice actually works. Tax is planned, not surprised. The numbers are current, the compliance is handled, and you know your position well before any deadline arrives.
- ✓ Tax liability estimated early, with time to act on it
- ✓ NHS and private income split correctly and reported accurately
- ✓ Capital allowances claimed in full on equipment and fit-out costs
- ✓ Fixed monthly fee, no hourly billing, no unexpected invoices

What makes this different from a general practice
Any accountant can file a return. Fewer understand the specific financial structure of a dental career — associate, principal, or both.
Dental income handled correctly
Associate fee income, practice dividends, NHS performer payments, and private receipts do not all work the same way for tax purposes. Knowing the difference before preparing your return means you claim what you are entitled to and do not pay more than you should.
Over 20 years of practical experience
Founded in 2005, Supreme Consulting has spent two decades working directly with owner-managed businesses and professionals across the UK. Stuart Green works personally on client accounts, which means you get the same experienced accountant every time, not a junior member of staff.
Fixed fees, no billing surprises
All work is agreed upfront on a fixed-fee basis. There are no hourly rates, no charges for a phone call, and no invoice that is larger than the one you agreed to. Pricing is set when the scope is agreed and does not change unless the scope does.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Switching accountants or starting from scratch takes less effort than most people expect. Here is how it works.
A brief discovery call
A no-obligation call to understand your current setup — associate, principal, limited company, or a combination. No forms, no fee, no commitment. You leave knowing exactly what would be involved.
A clear, fixed-fee proposal
You receive a written proposal covering the scope of services, what is included, and the fixed monthly cost. Nothing ambiguous. If the scope needs adjusting, that conversation happens before anything is agreed.
Onboarding and cloud setup
We handle the handover from your previous accountant and migrate your records to cloud accounting. You do not need to chase your old accountant or prepare anything in advance — that side of it is managed.
Ongoing, with no loose ends
Regular check-ins, proactive reminders ahead of key dates, and a clear view of your tax position throughout the year. Your compliance is handled, your tax bill is not a mystery, and the parts of running a practice you least enjoy are largely off your plate.
“I’m so grateful for the help received with my small cleaning business. Stuart holds your hand and advises throughout!”
Things dentists usually ask us first
Do you understand how dental associate income and practice company structures work?
Yes. Associate performers are paid by the practice principal or corporate body, often as a self-employed earner, which creates a specific self assessment position separate from any limited company dividends. We account for performer payments, associate agreements, and NHS schedule income as a matter of routine, not something we need to look up.
What does it cost, and what is included in the monthly fee?
Pricing is fixed and agreed upfront based on your specific setup — associate only, practice limited company, or both. A typical package covers self assessment, year-end accounts, corporation tax, and ongoing support throughout the year. Add-ons for bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, and management accounts are priced separately and clearly when the proposal is prepared.
My books are behind and my last accountant was not very proactive. Can you still help?
Yes. Catch-up work is something we handle regularly. At the outset we assess what needs doing to bring records current, and any additional cost for that work is quoted separately before anything starts. You are not charged at an open-ended hourly rate while we sort it out.
Is there a long-term contract or minimum commitment period?
No long-term contract. Services are on a rolling monthly basis and you can leave with reasonable notice. If you do leave, your records are returned in good order and we handle the handover to whoever comes next.
Can you help with the tax position if I am considering buying or selling a dental practice?
Practice acquisition and disposal involve capital gains tax, asset versus share sale considerations, and potentially stamp duty land tax depending on structure. These are areas we can advise on, and if the transaction is complex we will tell you plainly when specialist transactional tax input would also be sensible.
How much notice will I get of my self assessment tax bill?
In most cases, several months. Once your income figures are confirmed, we prepare a draft calculation and discuss any planning options — pension contributions, timing of dividends, and so on — before finalising the return. The goal is that January brings no surprises, only a confirmation of what you already know.
