Sound familiar?
Still not sure where you stand on IR35?
A lot of contractors operating through limited companies are in the same position: vaguely aware of what they should be doing, not entirely confident they are doing it correctly. The dividend and salary split feels like guesswork. Year-end comes around and the numbers are a surprise. The compliance is handled, more or less, but no one is actually checking whether it is all working in your favour.
- ✕ IR35 status unclear — working without a written, defensible determination
- ✕ Salary and dividend split set years ago and never reviewed since
- ✕ Year-end accounts arrive but no one explains what the numbers mean for you
What sorted looks like
Compliance handled on time, your tax position reviewed at least annually, and a clear answer when you ask what you should be paying yourself. The books are current. The filings go in. You know where you stand.
- ✓ IR35 determination documented and defensible before you take the contract
- ✓ Salary and dividend reviewed each April when the rates change
- ✓ Year-end accounts explained in plain English, with your tax bill calculated early
- ✓ Fixed monthly fee — you know the cost before you sign anything

What sets this practice apart
Twenty-one years working with contractors and owner-managed limited companies across the UK. The specifics below are things the practice can actually back up.
IR35 handled, not glossed over
IR35 is one of the more consequential compliance questions a contractor faces, and the answer is not always obvious. Supreme Consulting reviews your contracts and working practices to produce a written determination you can rely on. If your circumstances change, you get a reassessment, not a shrug.
Tax position visible all year
Your corporation tax and personal tax liability are calculated together, not in isolation. The dividend and salary split is reviewed each April when rates change, so you are not paying more than necessary and you know what to expect at the end of the year. No surprises in January.
Cloud accounting, fully set up
The practice is certified in Xero and QuickBooks Online. If you are not already on a cloud platform, migration is handled as part of onboarding. Your records are current, accessible, and in a format that makes year-end straightforward rather than a catch-up exercise.
Up and running in four steps
The process is designed to get your accounts in order quickly, without you having to do the heavy lifting. Most clients are fully onboarded within a couple of weeks.
A brief discovery call
A no-obligation conversation to understand your company structure, current setup, and what you actually need from an accountant. You can ask anything. You will leave the call knowing exactly what would be included and at what cost.
A clear, fixed-fee proposal
You receive a written proposal covering exactly what is included, the monthly fee, and the timeline. Nothing is left vague. If the scope changes, you are told before any additional cost is incurred.
Onboarding and migration
Your previous records are transferred or cleaned up. The cloud accounting platform is set up and configured. Your previous accountant is notified via the standard 64-8 process. You do very little of this yourself.
Ongoing, with less to worry about
Filings go in on time. Your tax position is reviewed when it should be. Questions get answered the day you ask them. Which is, frankly, how it should always have worked.

Things contractors usually ask us
Do you handle IR35 reviews, or is that something I have to sort separately?
IR35 reviews are part of the service for contractors who need them. That means reviewing your actual contracts and working practices, not just filling in a CEST tool and hoping for the best. A written determination is provided so you have something to refer to if HMRC ever asks. If your contract changes or you move to a new engagement, the position gets reassessed.
What does contractor accounting actually cost, and what is included?
Pricing is fixed-fee and scoped to your company’s requirements, so the monthly cost is agreed upfront and does not change unless the scope does. A standard limited company package covers year-end accounts, corporation tax return, and confirmation statement. Payroll, VAT, bookkeeping, and IR35 reviews are priced as additions depending on what you need. A written quote is provided before anything is agreed.
My books are in a bit of a state. Is that a problem?
Contractors arrive with books in all sorts of conditions. Catch-up work is carried out as part of onboarding, and the cost of doing so is included in the proposal upfront. You will not be quoted one price and then invoiced a different one when the actual state of things becomes apparent.
Is there a minimum contract length? What if I want to leave?
There is no long-term lock-in. If the arrangement is not working, you give notice and the records are handed over in good order. There are no exit fees and nothing is held back. The aim is that you stay because the service is worth staying for, not because the contract makes leaving awkward.
I contract through an umbrella company at the moment. Can you help me set up a limited company instead?
Company formation is handled as part of the service for contractors considering making the move from umbrella to their own limited company. The decision whether to do so depends on your day rate, working pattern, and IR35 exposure, and that assessment is part of the initial conversation before any recommendation is made.
How far in advance will I know what my tax bill is going to be?
Corporation tax and personal tax are calculated together shortly after the financial year ends, not when the filing deadline approaches. In most cases you will know what you owe several months before the payment is due, which gives you time to plan rather than scramble.
Less guesswork, more clarity.
Fixed-fee contractor accounting from a practice that has been doing this since 2005. IR35, corporation tax, payroll, and bookkeeping handled properly — and a clear answer whenever you need one.
