Ecommerce Accountants

Ecommerce Accountants

Your ecommerce accounts, handled properly.

Most ecommerce sellers outgrow their bookkeeping setup before they realise it. Platform fees, settlement delays, multi-channel VAT, and stock movements make for messy books if no one is watching. We work with online retailers every day on exactly this. Fixed fees, cloud-based, and questions answered within one working day.

  • VAT threshold monitored — no unexpected registration surprises
  • Marketplace settlement reports reconciled cleanly each month
  • Corporation tax or Self Assessment filed on time, every time
  • Your tax position visible well before any deadline arrives

No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Your books don’t match what the platform says.

Ecommerce accounting has a specific set of headaches that most general accountants are not set up for. Settlement reports that do not reconcile with bank deposits. VAT obligations that creep up once you cross a marketplace threshold. Stock purchases sitting in the wrong account. Year-end arrives and the numbers need untangling before anyone can do anything useful with them.

  • Hours lost trying to reconcile platform payouts against bank statements
  • VAT obligations unclear as sales grow across multiple channels
  • Year-end accounts delayed because the bookkeeping needs sorting first

What sorted looks like

Clean, current books that reflect how your business actually operates. VAT monitored and filed on time. Year-end prepared from records that are already in order, not built from scratch in January.

  • Platform payouts reconciled monthly — no year-end scramble to unpick them
  • VAT threshold tracked across all channels — registration handled before it becomes a problem
  • Year-end accounts prepared from books that are already tidy
  • Fixed-fee pricing so you know the cost before any work begins

Why Supreme Consulting

What makes the difference for ecommerce clients

There are plenty of accountants who will file your returns. Fewer who understand how ecommerce businesses actually generate and report their income.

🛒

No explaining how platforms pay out

Amazon settlement reports, Shopify payouts, eBay fees, Etsy remittances — you will not need to walk us through how any of it works before getting a useful answer. We deal with marketplace accounting regularly and the common problem areas are already understood. That saves time at both ends.

☁️

Real-time books, not quarterly guesswork

Cloud accounting through Xero and QuickBooks Online means your trading position is visible throughout the year, not just at year-end. Platform integrations are connected where available, so data flows in without you manually exporting anything. You know where you stand without asking.

💷

Fixed fees, scoped before we start

Every engagement starts with a clear proposal covering exactly what is included and what it costs. There are no hourly rates accumulating in the background and no invoice that surprises you at year-end. If the scope changes, it is agreed in writing first.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

The onboarding process is straightforward. Most clients are fully set up within a week of saying yes.

1

A no-obligation discovery call

We start with a short conversation to understand your business, your current setup, and what you actually need. Bring your questions — there are no wrong ones at this stage. You will leave the call knowing exactly what happens next.

2

A clear, fixed-fee proposal

You receive a written proposal setting out the scope, the monthly cost, and what is included. No vague retainers, no hourly estimates. If it looks right to you, we move forward.

3

We handle the transition

We take care of migrating your records to the cloud, connecting your platform integrations, and notifying HMRC of the agent change. You do not need to manage the handover from your previous accountant — we do that.

4

Your books running as they should

Monthly bookkeeping, quarterly VAT, proactive reminders before deadlines, and a tax position you can see throughout the year. The compliance is handled and the numbers are current. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Questions

Things ecommerce sellers usually ask first

Do you understand how Amazon, Shopify, and other marketplace payouts actually work?+

Yes. Settlement reports, FBA fees, referral charges, and the timing difference between sales and bank deposits are all part of the day-to-day work. The same applies to Shopify payouts, eBay managed payments, and Etsy remittances. You will not need to explain the mechanics before getting a straight answer.

What does it cost, and what is included?+

Pricing is fixed-fee and scoped before any work starts. The monthly cost depends on your turnover, the number of platforms you sell on, and which services you need — typically some combination of bookkeeping, VAT, and year-end accounts. You receive a written proposal with the full scope before committing to anything.

My books are a mess. Can you still help?+

Reasonably often, yes. Catch-up and clean-up work is something we do regularly. The first step is understanding how far back the records go and what state they are in, which we assess during the initial call. Catch-up work is scoped and priced separately so you know the cost upfront before anything is touched.

Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?+

No minimum term. Engagements run on a rolling monthly basis. If you decide to leave, we provide you with your records and assist with the transition to your next accountant. There are no exit fees and no penalties for leaving.

How do you handle VAT for sales made across multiple countries?+

Cross-border VAT is a common issue for ecommerce sellers, particularly those selling into the EU or using distance-selling thresholds. We advise on UK VAT obligations, OSS registration where relevant, and the practical implications of selling through marketplaces that handle VAT at source. If your situation involves complex international VAT, we will tell you plainly what falls within our scope and where you might need specialist input.

Will I know what my tax bill is going to be before HMRC asks for it?+

That is the intention. With bookkeeping kept current through the year, your corporation tax or Self Assessment liability becomes visible well before any filing deadline. There are no end-of-year surprises because the underlying numbers are already in order. If there is a planning opportunity — adjusting director salary, timing a purchase, making a pension contribution — it gets raised in time to act on it.
