Accountant For Startups
Get your startup’s finances right from the start.
Most early-stage businesses get the structure wrong, underpay or overpay tax in year one, and spend months untangling it later. We set things up properly from the outset — company structure, cloud bookkeeping, and tax-efficient pay. Fixed monthly fees, cloud accounting on Xero or QuickBooks, and questions answered within one working day.
- Know your tax position before HMRC sends the first reminder
- Company structure and director pay set up tax-efficiently from day one
- Clean books every month, not a year-end scramble
- Cash flow visibility so you always know where the business stands
No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Takes The Time To Explain Things
“Very clear and gives excellent clarity on all situations when I am in doubt. They take the time to explain things.”
Sound familiar?
Not sure if you set things up correctly?
A lot of founders get going fast and sort the accounting later. Then later arrives, and the books are a mess, the company structure may not be the most tax-efficient one, and no one is entirely sure what’s owed to HMRC or when. The compliance side piles up quietly until it becomes urgent.
- No clear picture of what corporation tax will be this year
- Director salary and dividends not structured to minimise tax legally
- Books months behind and year-end approaching faster than expected
What a well-run startup looks like
With the right setup from the start, none of this needs to be a problem. Your compliance is handled, your structure is tax-efficient, and you can see your cash position without digging through spreadsheets.
- Corporation tax calculated and visible well before the payment deadline
- Salary and dividend mix reviewed and structured correctly from the outset
- Monthly bookkeeping kept current, with a clean year-end as a result
- Fixed monthly fee covering everything agreed — no invoice surprises mid-year

What makes us different for early-stage businesses
There are plenty of accountants who will file what you send them. Fewer will tell you what to send, and why.
Set up correctly from day one
Most compliance headaches for startups trace back to decisions made in month one — wrong structure, wrong pay mix, wrong VAT approach. We cover the setup properly at the start, so there is less to unpick later. Over 20 years of working with owner-managed companies gives us a clear view of where early-stage businesses tend to go wrong.
Cloud books, live financial picture
Certified in Xero and QuickBooks Online, we connect your bank feeds, set up your chart of accounts to match how your business actually works, and keep everything current month to month. You can see your cash position, upcoming tax liabilities, and profitability without asking for a report.
Fixed fee, no billing surprises
Every engagement is agreed upfront with a clear, fixed monthly fee covering exactly what was scoped. No hourly rates accumulating in the background, no invoice that arrives larger than expected. If your needs grow, the scope is renegotiated openly before anything changes.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
The process is designed to be low-effort on your side. Most clients are fully onboarded within two weeks of the initial call.
A no-obligation discovery call
We spend 20 to 30 minutes understanding your business, your current setup, and what you actually need from an accountant. No forms to fill in beforehand. You will leave the call knowing exactly what we would recommend and why.
A clear, fixed-fee proposal
You receive a written proposal covering every service in scope, the monthly fee, and what happens next. No ambiguity about what is included. If the scope does not fit, we adjust it before anything is signed.
Onboarding and cloud setup
We handle the transition — migrating any existing records, setting up Xero or QuickBooks, connecting bank feeds, and ensuring opening balances are correct. If your previous books were incomplete, we flag that clearly and quote for any catch-up work separately.
Ongoing support, nothing to chase
Monthly bookkeeping runs without you chasing it. Deadlines are tracked. Questions get answered within one working day. Your tax position is visible throughout the year, not revealed as a surprise at year-end. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Things people usually ask before getting started
Do you help with company formation, or only once the business is already running?
Both. If you are still deciding on structure — sole trader versus limited company, for example — we can walk through the tax implications of each before you commit. If you are already trading and want to incorporate, we handle that too, along with the initial cloud accounting setup, registered office, and director pay structure from day one.
What does it cost, and what is actually included?
Pricing is fixed and agreed upfront based on the scope of services you need. A typical startup package covers monthly bookkeeping, year-end accounts, CT600, confirmation statement, and director Self Assessment. VAT returns, payroll, and advisory work can be added. You will receive a written proposal with a clear monthly figure before anything is agreed — no hourly rates running in the background.
My books are behind. Is that a problem?
It is a common starting point. We will review what exists, tell you honestly what the catch-up involves, and quote for that separately from the ongoing monthly fee. Catch-up work is scoped and priced before we start, so there are no surprises. Most clients who arrive with incomplete records are fully up to date within a few weeks.
Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?
There is no long-term contract. We work on a rolling monthly basis. If you decide to leave, you give us one month’s notice and we provide all your records, login credentials, and anything else needed for a smooth handover. You leave with clean books regardless.
Can you advise on R&D tax credits if we are building a product or technology?
Yes. R&D tax relief is available to companies that are genuinely developing new or improved products, processes, or software — and the qualifying criteria are broader than most founders assume. We review eligibility as part of the year-end process and prepare the claim where it applies. It is worth asking even if you are not sure you qualify.
When will I know what my tax bill is going to be?
With monthly bookkeeping kept current, your corporation tax position is visible throughout the year, not revealed after year-end. We flag the estimated liability before the payment deadline so you can plan your cash flow accordingly. For most clients, there are no surprises by the time the CT600 is filed.
