Know where your money is actually going. Then do something about it.

Most Hampshire business owners have a rough sense of whether they are profitable, but not a precise one. That gap tends to cost money. • Understand exactly which parts of your business are profitable
  • Identify cost and pricing issues before they compound

  • Practical recommendations, not abstract financial theory

No long-term contract. If the arrangement is not working after three months, you leave with clean, current books and nothing outstanding.

Takes the Time to Explain Things

Sound familiar?

Busy but not sure if you are actually profitable?

Plenty of Hampshire business owners are turning over decent revenue and still wondering at year-end why the bank balance does not reflect it. Costs drift, pricing assumptions go unchallenged, and without a clear picture of gross and net margin by service or product line, it is genuinely difficult to know which parts of the business to grow and which to rein in.

  • Revenue looks reasonable but profit never seems to materialise in the bank
  • No clear view of margin by product, service, or customer type
  • Decisions made on gut feel because the numbers are not current or clear

What a clear picture looks like

Profitability analysis gives you a structured, line-by-line view of where money is made and where it leaks. Delivered with plain commentary and actionable recommendations, not a spreadsheet to work out yourself.

  • Your cash position and profit margin visible and reconciled each quarter
  • Gross margin broken down by revenue stream, so you know what to prioritise
  • Current management accounts with commentary you can actually act on
  • Fixed-fee engagement with no surprise invoices at year-end

What you get

What the profitability analysis service covers

Three core components, delivered on a fixed fee with quarterly reporting and a direct line to Stuart whenever you need to talk through the numbers.

01

Quarterly Management Accounts

Profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow prepared every quarter with commentary in plain English. You will know your actual margin position before making any significant decision, not six months after the fact.

Included as standard
02

Margin and Cost Analysis

A structured review of gross and net margin by revenue stream, cost category, or customer type, depending on what is most relevant to your business. Pricing assumptions, overhead allocation, and cost drift are all examined. Where the numbers point to action, you will get a specific recommendation, not a general observation.

Tailored to your business
03

Profitability Improvement Advice

Once the picture is clear, the focus turns to what to do about it. Whether that is repricing a service, cutting a supplier cost, or restructuring how overheads are allocated, the advice is grounded in your numbers and your commercial context. Advisory is available as an ongoing monthly retainer or on a project basis.

Why Supreme Consulting

Why Hampshire businesses choose us for this

There are plenty of accountants in Hampshire who will file your year-end accounts. Fewer who will tell you in March that your margin on a particular service has been negative for six months.

📊

Commercial advice, not just numbers

Stuart Green has worked directly with owner-managed businesses since 2005. The profitability analysis is not a report delivered and filed away — it comes with a conversation about what the numbers mean for your next decision. If a cost line looks wrong or a pricing assumption is off, you will hear about it.

☁️

Real-time data through cloud tools

Management accounts are built from live data in Xero or QuickBooks Online, which means the quarterly picture is current rather than reconstructed from memory. If you are not already on cloud accounting, migration is handled as part of onboarding.

💷

Fixed fee, no quarterly surprises

The scope of the engagement is agreed upfront and the fee does not change because you asked a question or needed an extra call. Most clients are on a fixed monthly retainer covering management accounts, profitability review, and direct access to Stuart.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most clients are fully onboarded and receiving their first management accounts within a few weeks of the initial call. The process is designed to require as little from you as possible.

1

A no-obligation discovery call

A 30-minute call to understand your business, your current reporting setup, and what you actually want to know from your numbers. No preparation needed on your part.

2

A clear, fixed-fee proposal

You receive a written proposal covering exactly what is included, what the quarterly rhythm looks like, and what it costs. No ambiguity, no hourly billing.

3

Onboarding and data setup

We connect to your accounting software, review your chart of accounts, and set up the reporting framework. If your books need tidying first, catch-up work is quoted separately and clearly.

4

Quarterly accounts and ongoing advice

Every quarter you receive a management accounts pack with a written commentary and a call to discuss it. You know your margin position, your cash outlook, and what, if anything, needs attention. Which is, frankly, how it should have been all along.

Questions

Things people usually want to know

How is profitability analysis different from just getting my year-end accounts?+

Year-end accounts tell you what happened. Profitability analysis is a quarterly exercise that tells you what is happening now and why. The focus is on margin by revenue stream, cost behaviour, and pricing adequacy rather than statutory compliance. The output is a management accounts pack with commentary and, where relevant, specific recommendations on where to focus or where to cut.

What does it cost and what is included?+

Profitability analysis and management accounts are priced on a fixed monthly retainer based on the size and complexity of your business. The fee covers quarterly management accounts, a margin and cost review, written commentary, and a call to discuss the findings. A free quote is provided before any work begins, and the scope is agreed in writing so there are no ambiguous extras.

My books are behind and not particularly tidy. Can you still help?+

Yes. Most clients arrive with bookkeeping that is some way behind or in need of a clean-up. Catch-up work is assessed and quoted separately at the outset so you know the cost before agreeing to it. Once the books are current and correctly structured, the quarterly management accounts service begins.

Is there a long-term contract?+

There is no lock-in. The standard arrangement is a rolling monthly retainer with one month’s notice from either side. If the service is not doing what you need it to do, you are not tied in. You would leave with your books in order and your data exported.

Can you integrate with the software I already use?+

The analysis is built on Xero or QuickBooks Online, both of which integrate with most point-of-sale, payroll, and CRM platforms. If you are not yet on cloud accounting, migration is handled as part of onboarding. If you are already using Xero or QuickBooks, connecting to your existing file takes a matter of minutes.

Will the analysis help with tax planning as well as understanding profit?+

It feeds directly into it. When your margin position is clear and current, it is considerably easier to model the tax impact of different decisions before you make them — whether that is a director salary and dividend split, a capital purchase, or a change in trading structure. Tax planning conversations are more productive when the underlying numbers are accurate.
