Sound familiar?

VAT causing more stress than it should?

For most small businesses in Hordle, VAT is one of those obligations that never quite feels under control. Deadlines creep up, Making Tax Digital requirements change, and a single miscategorised transaction can create a correction that costs more time than the original return. It does not have to work this way.

  • Quarterly deadlines appearing before the bookkeeping is anywhere near ready
  • Uncertainty about which VAT scheme actually suits your business
  • HMRC correspondence about VAT that you are not entirely sure how to answer

What a managed VAT service looks like

Returns filed on time, records reconciled before the deadline, and someone available to field any HMRC correspondence on your behalf. The quarterly cycle becomes something that simply happens, rather than something you chase.

  • Deadlines tracked and returns filed well before the HMRC due date
  • Right VAT scheme identified for your turnover and business type
  • HMRC queries and correspondence handled without it landing back on your desk
  • Fixed monthly fee so you know the cost before the invoice arrives

What you get

VAT services included in your fixed fee

From initial registration through to quarterly filing and year-round support, the scope is clear and the price is agreed before we start.

01

Quarterly VAT Returns and Filing

Your VAT return is prepared from reconciled records, reviewed for accuracy, and submitted to HMRC before the deadline. Any discrepancies or questions are flagged to you in plain English before anything is filed. You see the figures, understand them, and approve them.

Included as standard
02

Making Tax Digital Compliance

MTD for VAT requires digital records and a compliant submission route. We set this up through Xero or QuickBooks Online and maintain it on your behalf, so your filing process stays compliant without you needing to understand the technical requirements yourself.

Cloud software included
03

VAT Registration and Scheme Advice

If you are approaching the VAT threshold or considering voluntary registration, the timing and scheme choice both affect your cash flow and admin burden. We advise on flat rate, cash accounting, and standard VAT options based on your actual figures, not a generic recommendation.

Why Supreme Consulting

Why Hordle businesses choose us for VAT

Over 20 years of VAT compliance and advisory work across a wide range of sectors. The experience shows in the questions we ask before you have thought of them.

📋

VAT handled without chasing you

Once your records are connected through cloud software, the quarterly cycle runs without you needing to remember it. We pull the data, reconcile the figures, and file on time. You see the return before it goes and can ask questions if something looks off.

📅

Two decades of VAT experience

Founded in 2005, Supreme Consulting has handled VAT returns across construction, hospitality, property, e-commerce, and professional services. If your sector has a specific VAT treatment — partial exemption, reverse charge, the Tour Operators Margin Scheme — it is unlikely to be new territory.

💷

Fixed price, agreed upfront

The fee is quoted before work starts and does not change unless your scope does. No hourly rates, no separate charge for a phone call to discuss your return. If the price needs to change, you are told before it happens.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

The process is straightforward and the transition is handled on our side. Most clients are set up and their first return underway within a week of instructing us.

1

A short discovery call

We start with a no-obligation conversation to understand your current VAT setup, your turnover, your sector, and whether there are any historical issues worth addressing. It takes about 20 minutes and there is no obligation to proceed.

2

A clear, fixed proposal

You receive a written proposal covering exactly what is included, the fixed monthly fee, and the timelines involved. No ambiguous scope, no add-on surprises. If the proposal does not work for you, that is fine.

3

Onboarding and cloud setup

We connect your accounting software, review your VAT history, and make sure your records are in order before the next return is due. If there is catch-up work required, it is scoped separately and priced clearly before we start.

4

VAT that simply gets done

From here, your quarterly VAT return is prepared, reviewed, and filed without you needing to manage the process. Questions get answered the day you ask them. Your VAT threshold is monitored. You know where you stand.

Questions

Things people usually ask before getting started

My business is in a sector with specific VAT rules — do you know them already?+

Most likely. Supreme Consulting works across construction, hospitality, property, e-commerce, and professional services, each of which has VAT treatments that differ from the standard. Construction reverse charge, partial exemption for property, and flat rate scheme suitability are all areas we deal with regularly. You will not need to explain the basics before getting a useful answer.

What does VAT support cost, and what exactly is included?+

VAT services are priced on a fixed-fee basis, quoted before work starts and based on your filing frequency, turnover, and any complexity in your records. A typical quarterly VAT return service covers bookkeeping reconciliation, return preparation, MTD-compliant submission, and year-round support for ad hoc questions. The quote you receive covers all of that — there is no separate charge for a conversation.

My VAT records are a bit behind. Can you still help?+

Yes. Catch-up work is something we handle regularly. If your records need attention before the next return can be filed, we assess the work required and quote for it separately so you know the cost upfront. Once the catch-up is complete, ongoing VAT compliance runs on the standard fixed fee from that point forward.

Is there a contract or minimum term?+

No long-term contract. Services run on a rolling monthly basis and you can end the arrangement with reasonable notice. If you decide to leave, your records are handed over in good order and nothing further is owed beyond the current period. The aim is that you stay because the service works, not because leaving is difficult.

Can you deal with HMRC directly on my behalf if there is a VAT query or compliance check?+

Yes. If HMRC raises a query, requests information, or initiates a compliance check, we correspond with them directly on your behalf. You are kept informed at each stage, but the administrative burden of responding and gathering documentation stays with us rather than landing back on your desk.

How much notice will I get of my VAT liability before the payment is due?+

Your return is prepared and reviewed ahead of the HMRC deadline, which means you see the VAT liability before the payment date rather than on it. For most clients this means at least one to two weeks of visibility, giving you time to plan the payment without it being a surprise.
