Sound familiar?

VAT more complicated than it needs to be?

Most small businesses in East End are not losing sleep over VAT because it is genuinely complex. They are losing sleep because no one has explained it clearly, the deadline crept up, or they are unsure whether they are on the right scheme. A backlog of receipts, an approaching threshold, or a letter from HMRC sitting unopened are all situations that look worse than they are — provided someone competent deals with them promptly.

  • ✕ Quarterly VAT deadlines arriving before the records are ready
  • ✕ Uncertain whether your current VAT scheme is actually saving you money
  • ✕ MTD requirements adding another layer of admin to an already full week

What a tidy VAT position looks like

Your VAT obligations are monitored, filed on time, and explained in plain English. The right scheme is reviewed periodically, not assumed. MTD submissions are handled without it becoming your problem.

  • ✓ Returns prepared and submitted well before the deadline, every quarter
  • ✓ VAT scheme reviewed to make sure it still fits your turnover and cashflow
  • ✓ MTD-compliant submissions via Xero or QuickBooks — no additional admin on your end
  • ✓ Fixed-fee pricing so you know exactly what VAT support costs each month

What you get

VAT services covered under one fixed fee

From quarterly returns to MTD submissions and registration advice, the scope is clear upfront and the pricing does not change mid-year.

01

Quarterly VAT Returns

Your VAT return is prepared from your cloud records and submitted to HMRC on time, every quarter. You will know your liability before the deadline, not after. Corrections and adjustments are handled as part of the service.

Included as standard
02

Making Tax Digital Compliance

MTD for VAT requires digital record-keeping and compatible software submissions. We handle this through Xero or QuickBooks Online, so the obligation is met without you adding a new process to your week. Migration from manual records is straightforward if you are not already on a cloud platform.

MTD-ready
03

VAT Registration and Scheme Advice

If you are approaching the registration threshold or unsure whether voluntary registration makes sense, that question gets a considered answer based on your actual turnover and trading pattern. We also review whether flat rate, cash accounting, or annual accounting schemes would improve your cashflow.

Why Supreme Consulting

What sets this firm apart from the alternatives

Established in 2005 and cloud-first from the start, Supreme Consulting brings two decades of practical VAT experience to businesses in East End and across Hampshire.

📅

Over 20 years of VAT experience

Founded in 2005, the firm has handled VAT for sole traders, limited companies, and specialist sectors across the UK for over two decades. That breadth means common VAT problems are recognised quickly and resolved without unnecessary delay. You are not explaining how quarterly accounting works to someone who learned it last year.

☁️

MTD-ready, cloud-first from day one

VAT submissions run through Xero or QuickBooks Online, both of which are MTD-compatible and provide a real-time view of your VAT position. If you are not yet on cloud accounting, migration is handled as part of onboarding. The digital record-keeping obligation is met as a byproduct of how the books are kept, not as an additional task.

💷

Fixed fee, no hidden additions

VAT service pricing is agreed upfront and does not change when your turnover has an unusual quarter or when HMRC asks a follow-up question. The scope is clear from the start, which means no invoice surprises at year end. If the scope changes materially, that conversation happens before the work does.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is straightforward and the majority of the administrative work falls on us, not you.

1

A brief discovery call

A no-obligation conversation to understand your VAT position, current filing history, and what you need. It typically takes 20 minutes. You will leave with a clear sense of whether we are a good fit and what the next step looks like.

2

A clear, fixed-fee proposal

You receive a written proposal covering the services, pricing, and what is included. No vague estimates or hourly rates — the fee is stated plainly and the scope is specific. If you have questions about what is or is not covered, those are answered before anything is agreed.

3

Onboarding and cloud setup

We handle the transition from your previous accountant or setup, migrate your records to Xero or QuickBooks if needed, and ensure your VAT history is accurate before the first submission. You provide access to your records; we do the rest.

4

Ongoing, with no surprises

Each quarter your VAT return is prepared, reviewed, and submitted. You receive a summary of your liability before it is filed. Your threshold is monitored, your scheme is kept under review, and any HMRC correspondence is handled directly. Which is, frankly, how it should work.

Questions

What most people ask before getting started

Do you handle VAT for businesses outside standard quarterly filing?+

Yes. As well as standard quarterly VAT returns, we support the annual accounting scheme, cash accounting, and flat rate scheme registrations. If you are currently on a scheme that no longer fits your trading pattern, that is reviewed as part of the initial assessment. MTD submissions are handled regardless of which scheme applies.

What does VAT support cost and what is included?+

Pricing is fixed-fee and agreed before work begins. A typical VAT service covers quarterly return preparation, MTD-compliant submission, and access to support for VAT queries throughout the year. The exact figure depends on your turnover, filing frequency, and whether bookkeeping is included. You will receive a written quote with the scope set out clearly before committing.

My VAT records are a bit behind. Is that a problem?+

It is common, and it is manageable. Catch-up bookkeeping is priced separately and clearly, and the work is completed before the first live return is filed. If there are historical errors or missed adjustments, those are identified during onboarding and addressed appropriately — including voluntary disclosure to HMRC where that is the right course of action.

Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?+

No minimum contract. Services run on a rolling monthly basis and either party can give notice to end the arrangement. If you leave, your records are transferred in a clean, accessible format. There are no exit fees and no outstanding obligations once the current filing period is complete.

Can you help if I receive a VAT inspection notice or HMRC enquiry?+

Yes. HMRC VAT enquiries and compliance checks are handled as part of the ongoing relationship where possible, and as a specific engagement where not. The process is less alarming than most clients expect when the records are in order. If there are historical gaps, those are assessed and addressed before engaging with HMRC.

Is voluntary VAT registration worth considering if I am below the threshold?+

It depends on your customer base and cost structure. If your customers are VAT-registered businesses, voluntary registration allows you to reclaim input tax and can improve margins. If your customers are consumers, the additional administration may outweigh the benefit. That calculation is straightforward and worth reviewing — particularly if your turnover is growing toward the threshold.
