Sole Trader Accounts Brockenhurst

Sole Trader Accounts Brockenhurst

Your sole trader accounts, handled properly.

Most self-employed people in Brockenhurst are running their business well enough — it is the accounts and tax return that tend to fall behind. We prepare your annual accounts, file your Self Assessment, and keep your bookkeeping current throughout the year. Fixed-fee pricing, replies within one working day, and over 20 years of experience with sole traders and small businesses across Hampshire.

  • Your Self Assessment filed well before the January deadline
  • Tax bill known months in advance, not days before it is due
  • Allowable expenses reviewed so you are not overpaying HMRC
  • Bookkeeping kept current throughout the year, not scrambled at year-end

No long-term contract. If after three months it is not working for you, you leave with clean, up-to-date records and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Your tax return is always a last-minute rush.

Running your own business in Brockenhurst leaves little time for paperwork. Receipts accumulate in a folder, the year-end crept up without warning, and now you are scrambling to pull everything together before HMRC’s deadline. You probably have a rough idea of what you owe — but only a rough one, and that is not a comfortable position to be in.

  • ✕ Tax return left until January, with little idea what the bill will be
  • ✕ Expenses not properly claimed because you are unsure what qualifies
  • ✕ No one checking whether your bookkeeping is correct throughout the year

What a sorted set of accounts looks like

Your accounts and Self Assessment are prepared accurately, filed on time, and reviewed for allowable expenses before submission. You know your tax position well in advance. There is nothing left in a drawer waiting to become a problem.

  • ✓ Self Assessment filed early, with your tax liability confirmed in advance
  • ✓ Expenses reviewed properly so you keep more of what you earn
  • ✓ Bookkeeping kept current — no year-end scramble, no missed records
  • ✓ Fixed-fee pricing agreed upfront, with no unexpected charges

What you get

Everything a sole trader actually needs

Sole trader accounting covers more than a once-a-year tax return. Here is what is included in a typical engagement, and what can be added as your business grows.

01

Self Assessment and Annual Accounts

Your SA100 return is prepared accurately, reviewed for allowable expenses and tax reliefs, and filed with HMRC well ahead of the deadline. We handle sole trader accounts preparation alongside the return so your figures are consistent and properly documented. You will know your tax bill before the payment date, not on it.

Core service
02

Bookkeeping and Cloud Accounting

Monthly bookkeeping using Xero or QuickBooks Online means your records are current and your income and expenditure are tracked properly throughout the year. There is no scramble at year-end because the work is already done. If your books are behind, we offer catch-up bookkeeping to bring everything up to date before we start.

Available monthly
03

VAT Registration and Returns

If your turnover is approaching the VAT threshold, or you are already registered, we monitor your position and handle your quarterly returns under Making Tax Digital. You will not find yourself crossing the registration threshold without knowing about it. For those on the flat rate or annual accounting scheme, we advise on which approach suits your turnover and trade.

Why Supreme Consulting

Why sole traders in Brockenhurst work with us

There is no shortage of accountants. Here is what makes the difference in practice.

📅

Over 20 years with small businesses

Supreme Consulting has been working with sole traders, freelancers, and small business owners since 2005. That means we already understand the practical challenges of self-employment — cash flow, irregular income, allowable expenses — without needing you to explain them. The advice you receive is grounded in how businesses like yours actually operate.

💷

Fixed fees, agreed in advance

Your quote covers the full scope of work with no ambiguity about what is included. There are no hourly rates accumulating in the background, and no invoice that bears no relation to what you expected to pay. If the scope changes, we discuss it before doing the work — not afterwards.

☁️

Cloud accounting, visible year-round

We work in Xero and QuickBooks Online, which means your figures are accessible whenever you want them, not locked in a desktop file updated once a year. You can see your income, your expenses, and your rough tax position at any point — which is considerably more useful than finding out in January.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is straightforward and the transition from your previous accountant, or from doing it yourself, is managed without you having to chase anyone.

1

A short discovery call

We start with a no-obligation conversation to understand your business, your current records, and what you need. It takes around 20 minutes. You will leave the call knowing exactly what we would do and what it would cost — which is more than most people know going in.

2

A clear, fixed-fee proposal

You receive a written proposal covering precisely what is included, the timeline, and the fixed monthly or annual fee. There is nothing buried in the small print. If you have questions before signing, we answer them.

3

Onboarding and records transfer

We handle the transition from your previous accountant and set up your cloud accounting if it is not already in place. If your books are behind, we catch up before moving forward. You do not need to do much — send us access to your records and we take it from there.

4

Ongoing, with nothing to worry about

Your accounts are prepared, your Self Assessment is filed, your tax bill is known in advance, and your bookkeeping is kept current. Deadlines are handled before they become pressing, questions are answered within one working day, and there is considerably less on your plate as a result.

Questions

What sole traders usually want to know

I have not kept great records this year. Can you still prepare my accounts?+

Yes. Incomplete or disorganised records are common, and we offer catch-up bookkeeping to reconstruct what is missing before preparing your accounts. We will tell you upfront what we need from you and how long it is likely to take. The cost of catch-up work is included in your quote before we start, so there are no surprises when the invoice arrives.

What does sole trader accounting actually cost?+

Pricing depends on how much work is involved — principally the volume of transactions, whether VAT is in scope, and whether you need monthly bookkeeping or just an annual return. We quote a fixed fee for each scope, so you know the total before committing to anything. For a straightforward Self Assessment with basic bookkeeping review, fees are modest. For clients with higher transaction volumes or more complex affairs, the quote reflects that accurately.

I am currently with another accountant. Is switching difficult?+

Straightforward, in most cases. Once you authorise us to act, we contact your previous accountant for the handover information directly — you do not need to be in the middle of that conversation. We also notify HMRC of the change on your behalf. Most switches are completed without the client needing to do very much at all.

Am I locked into a long-term contract?+

No. We do not require long-term contracts. If it is not working after a few months, you leave with your records in good order, your cloud accounting set up properly, and nothing owed beyond the work completed. We would rather earn your continued business than hold you to a contract.

Do I need to be VAT-registered as a sole trader?+

Only if your taxable turnover exceeds the current VAT threshold in any rolling 12-month period, or if you choose to register voluntarily. We monitor your turnover as part of ongoing bookkeeping and will flag when registration is approaching — you will not find yourself with a registration obligation you were not expecting. If voluntary registration would benefit you, we will explain why and by how much before recommending it.

Can you help me understand what I am likely to owe before the January deadline?+

Yes. One of the practical benefits of keeping your bookkeeping current throughout the year is that your tax liability becomes visible well before HMRC sends a reminder. We provide an estimate of your Self Assessment liability as your figures are finalised, so you can set aside the right amount in advance rather than working it out in January.
