Sound familiar?
A dormant company is still a filing commitment.
Many directors assume a dormant company can simply be left alone. It cannot. Companies House expects accounts annually, HMRC expects a CT600 (even if no tax is due), and the confirmation statement needs to be filed each year. Miss any of these and the penalties start arriving — and the company’s good standing starts to erode quietly in the background.
- ✕ Unsure whether your company genuinely qualifies as dormant under HMRC’s definition
- ✕ Filing deadlines passed, penalties issued, and correspondence building up unanswered
- ✕ No clear advice on whether to keep the company dormant, reactivate it, or strike it off
What compliant and sorted looks like
Dormant accounts are straightforward when they are handled by someone who files them regularly. The obligation is confirmed, the filings go in on time, and you know exactly where the company stands.
- ✓ Dormant status confirmed against both Companies House and HMRC rules before any filing
- ✓ Accounts, CT600, and confirmation statement filed on time with no penalty exposure
- ✓ Clear recommendation on dormant, reactivation, or voluntary strike-off — whichever fits your situation
- ✓ Fixed-fee quote provided upfront so there are no billing surprises

What the dormant accounts service covers

Dormant Company Accounts Filed

Included as standardCT600 and HMRC Compliance
Even a dormant company is usually required to file a corporation tax return. We submit the CT600 to HMRC, confirm the nil liability position where applicable, and keep a record of correspondence in case questions arise later.
Included as standardConfirmation Statement and Ongoing Advice
The annual confirmation statement keeps Companies House records accurate and the company in good standing. We also advise on whether dormant status remains the right approach or whether a formal strike-off would be more appropriate for your circumstances.

Why Hampshire companies use us for this
There are plenty of accountants who will file dormant accounts. Fewer will explain what they are doing and why, price it clearly upfront, and answer the phone when you call.
Over 20 years filing company accounts
Founded in 2005, Supreme Consulting has handled statutory filings for limited companies across every stage of their life — active, dormant, and everything in between. Dormant accounts are filed correctly first time because we have done this many times before. There is no learning curve at your expense.
Fixed fee, confirmed before we start
You receive a clear, written quote before any work begins. The fee covers the dormant accounts, the CT600 where required, and the confirmation statement — no hourly billing, no unexpected additions. If your situation is more involved than expected, we say so before, not after.
Plain-English guidance on your options
Dormant does not always mean the right choice is to stay dormant. We will tell you clearly whether keeping the company, reactivating it, or applying to strike it off makes more sense for your circumstances. That conversation is included — it is part of the service, not billed separately.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Most clients are onboarded within a few days. The process is designed to require as little from you as possible.
A short discovery call
We start with a brief, no-obligation call to confirm the company’s current position, filing history, and what needs doing. This usually takes fifteen minutes. You will leave knowing exactly what is required and what it will cost.
A clear, fixed-fee proposal
You receive a written proposal covering the scope of work, the filing deadlines, and the fixed fee. Nothing is ambiguous. If there are outstanding filings or penalties to address, we flag them at this stage.
We handle the filings
Once instructed, we prepare the dormant accounts, CT600, and confirmation statement and submit them to the relevant authorities. We notify you when each filing is complete and provide copies for your records.
The company is compliant and current
Your dormant company is in good standing, with all obligations met and no outstanding correspondence with Companies House or HMRC. You know the next filing dates and have a firm to call if anything changes.
“Stuart is a thorough efficient worker who produces good quality results at a reasonable price.”
Questions about dormant company accounts
My company has not traded for years. Does it still need to file accounts?
Yes. Companies House requires annual accounts regardless of trading activity, and HMRC typically requires a CT600 corporation tax return even when no tax is due. The obligation continues until the company is formally struck off or dissolved. Ignoring it results in automatic penalties and, eventually, the company being struck off involuntarily — which causes its own complications if you want to use it again.
What does it cost to file dormant company accounts?
We quote a fixed fee before starting any work, so you know the cost upfront. The fee covers the dormant accounts submission to Companies House, the CT600 to HMRC where required, and the annual confirmation statement. If there are historical filings outstanding or penalties to address, we scope and price that separately before proceeding.
The company has missed filing deadlines. Can you still help?
Yes. We handle catch-up filings regularly. The first step is establishing which returns are outstanding and whether any penalties have already been issued. Some penalties can be appealed with a reasonable excuse argument; others simply need to be paid and the filings brought current. We will tell you exactly where you stand before any work begins.
Am I locked in once I instruct you?
No. There is no long-term contract. Most clients stay because the service works, not because they are obligated to. If you decide to move on, we provide copies of all filed documents and a clean handover to whoever takes over.
Should I keep the company dormant or apply to have it struck off?
That depends on whether you have any intention of using the company again and whether there are any assets or liabilities within it. Striking off is straightforward when the company is genuinely empty and you have no future use for it. Keeping it dormant preserves the option to reactivate. We can advise on the better route for your situation during the initial call — there is no charge for that conversation.
