Sound familiar?
QuickBooks open, but the numbers still not clear.
The software does its job. The problem is that reconciling bank feeds, coding transactions correctly, and actually knowing what your tax position is requires someone who knows what they are looking at. Most business owners in Lymington end up with a QuickBooks file that is vaguely up to date but not quite right, and a growing unease about what the year-end will produce.
- ✕ Transactions uncategorised or coded incorrectly for months
- ✕ No clear picture of what VAT or tax is owed right now
- ✕ Year-end arrives and the books need significant work before accounts can be prepared
What a tidy QuickBooks file looks like
We take the QuickBooks file off your hands, keep it current, and make sure the numbers you see actually reflect your business. Compliance deadlines are handled. The tax position is visible. There is considerably less to think about.
- ✓ Every transaction coded correctly and reconciled each month
- ✓ VAT liability and tax position visible in real time, not just at year-end
- ✓ Year-end accounts prepared from clean, organised records with no scramble
- ✓ Fixed monthly fee so there are no surprise bills alongside the work

Core compliance handled each month, with advisory support available when you want to look further ahead. One point of contact, one fixed fee, no ambiguity about what is included.
Monthly QuickBooks Bookkeeping
Your QuickBooks Online file is reconciled and coded every month so the numbers are always current. Bank feeds, expense categorisation, supplier invoices, and sales records are kept in order throughout the year. There is no year-end backlog and no scramble when accounts are due.
Included as standardVAT, Payroll and Tax Compliance
Quarterly VAT returns are prepared from your QuickBooks data and submitted under Making Tax Digital on time. Payroll, PAYE, and Self Assessment or Corporation Tax returns are handled within the same engagement. Deadlines are tracked; you are notified before anything is due.
Fully managedManagement Accounts and Advisory
When a current profit and loss figure or a cash flow position would help you make a better decision, we produce it from your QuickBooks data and talk you through what it means. This is available quarterly or on demand, and does not require a separate engagement.

What makes the difference in practice
There are plenty of accountants who will take on a QuickBooks file. Fewer who will keep it in good order, explain the numbers plainly, and tell you something useful about your business.
QuickBooks Online, handled properly
We work in QuickBooks Online every day and know how the platform behaves with different business types. Bank feed errors, reconciliation differences, VAT scheme settings — these are caught before they become a problem. You get a file that is clean and correctly configured, not just vaguely active.
Numbers explained in plain English
A monthly profit figure or a VAT liability is only useful if you understand what it means for your business. We do not file the numbers and disappear. We tell you what they show and what, if anything, to do about it. That is included in the service, not billed separately.
Over 20 years of hands-on experience
Supreme Consulting has been working with small businesses and contractors in Hampshire since 2005. That means the firm has seen most situations before — late filings, HMRC enquiries, VAT registrations that should have happened earlier. The advice you get reflects actual experience, not theoretical knowledge.
Up and running in four steps
Switching accountants or getting set up for the first time takes less effort than most people expect. We handle the transition; you get on with running the business.
A brief discovery call
We start with a no-obligation conversation to understand your business, your current QuickBooks setup, and what you need from an accountant. It takes around 20 minutes. You will leave knowing exactly what the service would cover and what it would cost.
A clear, fixed-fee proposal
You receive a written proposal covering the scope of services, what is included, and the monthly fee. There are no hourly rates and no ambiguous scope. If you have questions before signing, we answer them.
Onboarding and file review
We take access to your QuickBooks file, review the current state of the records, and bring everything up to date. If there is catch-up work needed, we tell you upfront and agree the cost before starting. You do not need to prepare anything.
Ongoing, without the worry
From that point, your books are kept current each month, deadlines are managed, and you hear from us proactively rather than chasing. Your QuickBooks file becomes a working tool rather than an obligation sitting in the background.
“I’m so grateful for the help received with my small cleaning business. Stuart holds your hand and advises throughout!”
Things people usually ask before getting in touch
Do you actually work in QuickBooks Online, or do you prefer a different platform?
QuickBooks Online is one of the two platforms we work in daily — the other is Xero. We are familiar with how different business types are set up in QBO, including VAT scheme configurations, payroll integration, and the bank feed behaviour that tends to cause problems when left unmanaged. You will not need to explain how the software works before getting a useful answer.
What does it cost, and what is included in the monthly fee?
Pricing is fixed and agreed upfront based on the services you need and the size and complexity of your business. A typical engagement for a small limited company covers monthly bookkeeping, quarterly VAT returns, year-end accounts, and the Corporation Tax return. Payroll and management accounts can be added. There are no hourly charges and no surprise bills at year-end.
My QuickBooks file is a bit of a mess. Is that a problem?
It is a common situation. When we take on a new client we review the file first and let you know what needs addressing before the ongoing work begins. If there is catch-up bookkeeping or a reconciliation exercise needed, we quote for it separately and agree the cost before starting. Most files take less time to sort out than the owner expects.
Is there a long-term contract or a minimum commitment?
There is no long-term contract. Engagements run on a rolling monthly basis and you can give notice at any time. If you decide to leave, your QuickBooks file and records are yours and we will help with a clean handover to another accountant. There is nothing owed beyond the final month of service.
Can you help with Making Tax Digital for VAT if I am not already filing digitally?
Yes. If you are VAT-registered and not yet filing under MTD, we handle the registration for MTD, ensure your QuickBooks file is linked correctly to HMRC, and submit the returns on your behalf each quarter. We also check whether you are on the most appropriate VAT scheme for your business type, which occasionally makes a material difference to what you pay.
Will I know what my tax bill is likely to be before HMRC tells me?
That is one of the main practical benefits of keeping the books current throughout the year. With an up-to-date QuickBooks file, we can give you a Corporation Tax or Self Assessment estimate well ahead of the deadline so you have time to plan for it. Tax surprises are largely avoidable when the records are in order.
