Management Accounts Hampshire

Management Accounts Hampshire

Know your numbers every quarter, not just at year-end.

Most Hampshire business owners find out how profitable the last quarter was when their accountant files the year-end accounts — months after the fact. Management accounts change that. You get a clear picture of where you stand, regularly and in plain English. Fixed-fee pricing, replies within one working day.

  • Quarterly profit and loss with commentary you can act on
  • Cash flow visibility so you are not caught short at month-end
  • Director-ready reports without spending a day preparing them
  • Proactive advice tied to what the numbers are actually showing

No long-term contract. If the reports are not useful after three months, you leave with clean, current books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Running the business blind until year-end.

You have a rough sense of whether things are going well, but you cannot say with confidence what the profit margin was last quarter, whether cash will cover the next payroll run, or which part of the business is actually earning its keep. The year-end accounts eventually confirm what happened — long after you could have done anything about it.

  • No clear picture of profitability until the accountant files twelve months later
  • Cash flow surprises that could have been spotted weeks in advance
  • No reliable numbers to support a pricing decision, loan application, or growth plan

What current numbers look like

Management accounts put the right information in front of you every quarter, formatted for a business owner rather than an auditor. The numbers are current, the commentary is plain, and the advice is tied to what the figures are actually telling you.

  • Profit and loss delivered quarterly, with plain-English commentary on performance
  • Cash flow reporting that flags shortfalls before they become a problem
  • Reliable figures to inform pricing, investment, and borrowing decisions with confidence
  • Fixed monthly retainer, so the cost is predictable and there are no surprise invoices

What you get

What management accounts cover each quarter

The service is built around three things: a clear view of profit and loss, a cash flow position you can trust, and commentary that tells you what to do next rather than just what happened.

01

Quarterly Profit and Loss Reports

Each quarter you receive a formatted P&L with actuals against budget or prior period, so you can see at a glance where margins are moving. Commentary explains variances in plain English, without requiring you to interpret the numbers yourself. Prepared in Xero or QuickBooks Online, so the underlying data is always current.

02

Cash Flow Position and Forecasting

A rolling cash flow position sits alongside each management pack, showing where money is coming in, where it is going, and what the next four to twelve weeks look like. Potential shortfalls are flagged early, giving you time to act rather than react. For growing businesses, this feeds into a more detailed cash flow model if needed.

Included as standard
03

Profitability Review and Advisory

Beyond the pack itself, Stuart reviews what the numbers are showing and flags anything that warrants a conversation — margin erosion, an overhead creeping up, or a product line that is carrying disproportionate cost. This is the part that turns a reporting exercise into something commercially useful. Connected to wider tax planning and year-end preparation, so nothing falls between the gaps.

Why Supreme Consulting

What makes this service worth paying for

There are accountants who will send you a PDF at the end of the quarter and leave it at that. The value here is in what happens alongside the numbers.

📊

Numbers with context, not just data

A management pack without commentary is just a spreadsheet you did not make yourself. Every quarterly report comes with a plain-English review of what the figures mean for your business — what is working, what warrants attention, and what to consider before next quarter. That is the part most management account services skip.

☁️

Live data, not month-old exports

Reports are prepared directly from Xero or QuickBooks Online, which means the underlying bookkeeping is current before the pack is produced. You are not working from figures that were already three weeks old when the report landed. If the books are not in good shape, that gets resolved first — as part of the service.

📅

Twenty years of commercial grounding

Supreme Consulting has been working with owner-managed businesses since 2005. That means the commentary on your management accounts is written by someone who has seen the same patterns across dozens of businesses and sectors — not by a junior preparing a template. The advice is grounded in what actually happens in small businesses, not in theory.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

The process is designed to be as low-friction as possible. Most clients are receiving their first management pack within a few weeks of the initial call.

1

A no-obligation discovery call

The first conversation is about understanding your business — your current reporting setup, what you are trying to get visibility on, and what good would look like. No forms to fill in beforehand. You will leave the call knowing exactly what the service covers and what it costs.

2

A clear, fixed-fee proposal

You receive a written proposal covering the scope, the quarterly schedule, and the monthly retainer cost. No ambiguity about what is and is not included. If you want to add payroll, VAT, or year-end accounts, those are priced separately and clearly alongside.

3

Onboarding and bookkeeping review

Existing records are reviewed and, where needed, brought current in Xero or QuickBooks Online before the first management pack is prepared. If your books need a catch-up, that is scoped and agreed upfront. You do not need to do anything other than grant access.

4

Quarterly reports, ongoing support

Every quarter you receive your management pack, cash flow position, and a review of what the numbers are telling you. Queries are answered within one working day. The financial side of the business runs as it should, and you spend your time on the parts only you can do.

Questions

What most people ask before getting started

What exactly is included in a quarterly management accounts pack?+

Each pack includes a profit and loss account, a balance sheet position, and a cash flow summary, prepared directly from your live Xero or QuickBooks Online data. A plain-English commentary accompanies the figures, covering performance against the prior period and anything worth acting on. If you have department or product-level reporting set up, that feeds into the pack as well.

What does management accounts cost, and is it a fixed fee?+

Pricing is a fixed monthly retainer, scoped to your business size and the complexity of what needs reporting. You will receive a written quote before anything starts, so you know exactly what you are paying before committing. There are no hourly charges for the quarterly review conversation or for follow-up questions on the pack.

My books are behind — can you still help?+

Yes. A bookkeeping catch-up is scoped and priced separately as part of onboarding, so the first management pack is produced from accurate, current data rather than whatever state things are currently in. The catch-up cost is agreed upfront and does not affect the ongoing retainer fee. Most clients arrive with some degree of backlog and it is not an obstacle.

Is there a long-term contract?+

No. The service runs on a rolling monthly basis with a short notice period. If it is not working, you leave with your records in Xero or QuickBooks Online, fully up to date, and nothing further owed. The aim is that you stay because the service is useful, not because leaving is inconvenient.

Can management accounts feed into a bank loan or finance application?+

Regularly, yes. Lenders and invoice finance providers often ask for recent management accounts as part of their assessment, particularly for businesses without a long trading history. Having quarterly packs already prepared — rather than producing something from scratch when the application arrives — tends to make the process considerably more straightforward.

Will management accounts help me reduce my tax bill?+

Indirectly, yes. Reviewing profitability every quarter creates natural points in the year to consider pension contributions, timing of director salary and dividends, capital expenditure, and other tax-efficient decisions. Catching these before the year-end is closed is substantially more useful than identifying them in the following April. Tax planning conversations are included as part of the ongoing relationship.
