Sound familiar?
Payroll taking longer than it should?
For most small employers in Christchurch, payroll sits in the uncomfortable space between something that has to be done and something nobody has quite got a handle on. RTI deadlines, PAYE codes, employee changes, CIS deductions if you work in construction — the moving parts add up. A mistake means correspondence from HMRC, and that rarely improves with time.
- RTI submissions missed or filed late, penalties starting to accumulate
- CIS deductions and subcontractor verification causing confusion each month
- Pay runs taking up hours that should go towards running the business
What a clean payroll setup looks like
With Supreme Consulting managing your payroll, the compliance side runs in the background. Pay runs go out on time, submissions reach HMRC when they should, and you are kept informed without being buried in detail.
- RTI submitted on time each period, penalties not an issue you need to think about
- CIS deductions and subcontractor verification handled accurately as standard
- Pay runs processed and confirmed without you spending hours on it
- One fixed monthly fee covering the full payroll service, no surprises

What makes the difference in practice
There are plenty of accountants who will process your payroll. Fewer will notice the things worth noticing.
Twenty-plus years of payroll practice
Supreme Consulting has been running payroll bureaus for small employers since 2005. RTI, Auto Enrolment changes, CIS reforms — each shift has been worked through in practice, not just read about. That depth of experience means fewer errors and fewer calls from HMRC.
Fixed fee, known from day one
Payroll pricing is agreed upfront based on headcount and complexity. There are no hourly rates that expand with the complexity of a pay run. You know what you pay each month before the first payslip goes out.
Cloud payroll, real-time visibility
Payroll is processed through cloud platforms that integrate with your bookkeeping software — Xero or QuickBooks Online — so payroll costs feed directly into your management accounts. Nothing gets lost between systems, and your figures stay accurate month to month.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Switching payroll provider takes less effort than most people expect. The transition is managed at this end.
A brief discovery call
We start with a short conversation about your payroll setup: headcount, pay frequency, whether CIS applies, and what is currently going wrong or being left too late. No obligation, no sales pressure — just a clear picture of what you need.
A clear, fixed-fee proposal
You receive a written proposal covering exactly what is included, the monthly fee, and how the handover works. No ambiguity about scope, and no surprises on the first invoice.
We handle the transition
Payroll records are migrated, HMRC authorisation is set up, and any historical discrepancies are identified and resolved before the first pay run goes out under the new arrangement. You do not need to untangle it yourself.
Payroll running in the background
From that point, pay runs are processed, RTI is filed, and you are notified of anything that requires your attention. Most months, payroll is one less thing on the list — which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Things Christchurch employers usually ask
Do you handle CIS payroll as well as standard PAYE payroll?
Yes. If you engage subcontractors in construction, CIS sits alongside the standard payroll service. Subcontractor verification, monthly CIS returns, deduction statements — these are processed as part of the same workflow, not bolted on as an afterthought. The fee covers the full picture.
What does payroll cost, and what is included?
Pricing is fixed monthly and based on the number of employees and pay frequency. The fee covers payroll processing, payslip production, RTI submissions, starter and leaver administration, and year-end P60 production. P11D reporting for benefits in kind is available as an add-on. You will see the full scope and the monthly figure before agreeing to anything.
What if our payroll records are behind or in a mess?
It is not uncommon to pick up payroll that has gaps, incorrect tax codes, or filings that were missed. A catch-up review is carried out before the first live pay run to identify and resolve any discrepancies. The cost of that work is scoped separately and agreed upfront.
Is there a minimum contract period?
There is no long-term lock-in. The arrangement runs on a rolling basis, and you can give notice if circumstances change. If you do leave, your payroll records are provided in a format your next provider can use without difficulty.
Do you manage Auto Enrolment pension contributions as part of the service?
Pension contributions can be calculated and deducted as part of the payroll run, and the data can be submitted to your pension provider. If you do not yet have a scheme in place, we can advise on your obligations and the options available for small employers.
Can you advise on the most tax-efficient salary structure for a director?
Director salary planning is something we look at for owner-managed limited companies as a matter of course. The combination of salary and dividends affects income tax, National Insurance, and corporation tax, and the optimal split changes with your personal circumstances and the company’s position. It is a conversation worth having at least once a year.
