Sole Trader Accountant Hampshire

Sole Trader Accountant Hampshire

Your sole trader accounts, handled properly.

Most sole traders in Hampshire manage more admin than they should, often with less clarity on their tax position than is comfortable. Supreme Consulting handles your Self Assessment, bookkeeping, and VAT compliance on a fixed monthly fee, with replies within one working day.

  • Your Self Assessment filed accurately, well before the January deadline
  • Tax bill known in advance, not when HMRC sends the reminder
  • Allowable expenses reviewed so you keep more of what you earn
  • VAT threshold monitored so you are never caught off guard

No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Takes the Time to Explain Things

Sound familiar?

Still not sure what your tax bill will be this year?

Running a sole trader business in Hampshire means wearing most hats at once. Bookkeeping gets left until the weekend, Self Assessment becomes a January scramble, and the question of whether you are over the VAT threshold sits somewhere in the back of your mind. None of this is unusual. It is also entirely avoidable.

  • January Self Assessment filed in a rush with receipts missing from months ago
  • No clear view of what you owe in tax until HMRC issues a demand
  • Uncertain whether you have claimed every allowable expense you are entitled to

What sorted looks like for sole traders

Your records are current, your tax position is visible, and your Self Assessment is filed on time without the scramble. The parts of running your business you find least useful are handled, and you have an accountant who will pick up the phone.

  • Self Assessment prepared and submitted accurately, months before January
  • Tax liability calculated and communicated in advance, no surprises from HMRC
  • Expenses reviewed annually so nothing claimable is left on the table
  • Fixed monthly fee so your accounting cost is predictable and transparent

Why Supreme Consulting

What makes working with us different

A few things worth knowing before you decide whether to get in touch.

📅

Over 20 years with small businesses

Supreme Consulting has been working with sole traders, freelancers, and owner-managed businesses since 2005. That means most situations a sole trader in Hampshire is likely to face have come up before. The advice is grounded in that experience, not pulled from a textbook.

💷

Fixed fee, no hidden costs

Your quote covers the agreed scope of work. There are no hourly rate surprises and no bill for a quick question by email. If your circumstances change and the scope needs to change with them, that conversation happens before any extra cost arises.

💡

Advice beyond the tax return

Filing your Self Assessment is the minimum. Where it is useful, Stuart will flag allowable expenses you may have missed, review your business structure as income grows, and give a plain view of your options around Class 4 NICs and payments on account. Compliance handled, with the commercial context included.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

The process is designed to be as low-effort as possible on your side. Most clients are fully set up within two weeks of their first call.

1

A no-obligation discovery call

We start with a short conversation about your business, your current setup, and what you actually need. No forms to fill in beforehand, no preparation required. You will leave knowing what working together would look like and what it would cost.

2

A clear, fixed-fee proposal

You receive a written proposal covering exactly what is included, the fee, and the timelines. No vague retainer with items to be agreed later. If the scope does not fit, it is straightforward to adjust before anything is signed.

3

Onboarding and cloud setup

We handle the transition from your previous accountant or existing records. That means requesting information from HMRC on your behalf, migrating your books to the cloud, and making sure everything is in order before we start work. You do very little.

4

Ongoing, with nothing to chase

Deadlines are tracked and met. Queries get answered the day you ask them. Your tax position is visible throughout the year, not reconstructed in January. Which is, frankly, the way it should work.

Questions

Things sole traders usually ask before getting in touch

Do you understand how sole trader tax and payments on account actually work?+

Yes, in detail. Sole trader tax involves Self Assessment, Class 2 and Class 4 National Insurance, and the payments on account system, which catches a lot of people out in the first year their income rises significantly. We flag this in advance and build it into your planning, so the second payment in July is not a surprise you have to find in a hurry.

What does it cost, and what is included?+

Pricing is fixed and agreed before any work starts. A sole trader Self Assessment return is priced by scope, depending on whether your income is straightforward employment and self-employment income, or whether you have rental income, capital gains, or overseas considerations layered on top. Bookkeeping and VAT are priced separately and can be added to a monthly retainer. You will receive a written quote before committing.

My books are in a bit of a state. Is that a problem?+

It is not unusual. Many clients arrive with records that have not been kept systematically, or with a previous accountant who has gone quiet near a filing deadline. Catch-up bookkeeping is available as a one-off piece of work. The cost depends on how far back the records go and what condition they are in, and we will be straightforward with you about that before starting.

Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?+

No minimum contract. If you engage Supreme Consulting on a monthly retainer and decide after three months that it is not the right fit, you give notice and leave with your records in order. Annual compliance work such as Self Assessment is quoted per engagement with no ongoing commitment attached.

Can you advise on whether I should incorporate as a limited company?+

Yes. At certain profit levels, trading through a limited company can reduce your overall tax liability, though the picture depends on how you draw income, your personal circumstances, and the administrative overhead you are prepared to take on. This is a conversation we have regularly with growing sole traders across Hampshire, and we will give you a plain view of the numbers rather than a generic answer.

How far in advance will I know what my tax bill is going to be?+

In most cases, several months before the payment deadline. Once your bookkeeping is current and your year-end figures are collated, we prepare the calculation and send it to you for review before filing. That gives you time to plan the payment rather than scramble for it in January.
